Why Did the Chicken Cross the Road?

I usually enjoy listening to Clay and Brooklyn talk to each other. Their conversations crack me up. Last night, I listened to Clay and Lexi have this conversation...

CLAY: Why did the farmer cross the road?
LEXI: Because he got hit and died?
CLAY: No, because he got eated by a bat.

much hilarious laughter

LEXI: Why did the chicken cross the road?
CLAY: Because a bat eated it?
LEXI: No, because a bat farted on it.

much hilarious laughter

CLAY: Why did the shark cross the road?
LEXI: It farted?
CLAY: A fish eated it and it died.

much hilarious laughter

MOM: OK, can you tell any jokes without the word "fart" in them? Is that possible? No more talking like that!

CLAY: Why did the paper cross the road?
CLAY: Because it flew into a sandwich.

CLAY: Why did the pig cross the road?
LEXI: He got runned over?
LEXI: A bat eated him?
CLAY: No, he got lost.

LEXI: Why did the turkey cross the road?
CLAY: A bat eated it?
CLAY: A camera fell on it?
CLAY: A milk cup fell on it?
CLAY: A napkin fell on it?
LEXI: A snowman ate it!
CLAY: That was lame.

LEXI: And then it farted.

Much hilarious laughter

I give up.

I've got another giveaway for Matisse & Jack's natural snack mixes HERE. And soon I'll write about my lunch with a group of wonderful women and the project I'm so honored to be a part of. The proceeds from this project will be going to help Wings (Women In Need Growing Stronger), a shelter for victims of domestic violence.

I've got Google Reader on my iGoogle Desktop, and your post just popped up in this format:

Why Did the Chicken Cross the Road?
BECAUSE I SAID SO

Uh huh. Very good reason. lol I just thought it was funny that your blog title appearing below the post title answered the question we've all been dying to know...

BTW, the kiddo's conversation had me laughing. Kids are hilarious.

Your kids crack me up. And why do kids think it's so funny to say "fart?" My THREE year old has to announce everytime she "toots." Ugh.

Girls may grow out of always laughing at farting jokes, but I am not so sure boys do, at least my husband :)

Envy because of yr wonderful kids and admire because you have a lot of patience and find funny moments no matter what the situation.

Well, one mystery is solved. Now we know why people get to your blog by searching for bats, their and droppings and other related items. I love how little it takes to make children laugh. I don't "get" it at all, but I love the results. I can't think of a happier sound.

Apparently there are any number of reasons to cross a road. All of which are apparently very funny to a young mind - but the humor of which escapes an old "fart" like me.

Sounds kind of like my house. My boys haven't added the farting in yet. So it is amusing to listen to them come up with silly jokes and crack up laughing. Those are my wonder and awe moments with them. And I need those. The arguing those two get into is very frustrating at times. They are 5 & 6 they should be having a blast and not worried about how correctly one of them said something. Ugh!

One more week until they are out of school.

Merry Christmas!

So funny! Sounds like my 6 yr. old telling jokes! Her brother gets annoyed with them, but we remind him he did the same thing when he was that age!

Hey, at least my kids are not alone:

Maya (5 years): Why did the helicopter poop?

Chas (2 years): Poop! (laughs...)
Maya (5 years): Because it has too many eyes!

(Laughter across the room including their dad.)

You think those are bad? You should hear my daughter's Knock-knock jokes!

wow gotta love their joke creativity, lol. I don't think fart jokes stop being funny at any age.

Why did the mouse cross the road?

Because it was stapled to the chicken.

That was my favorite "crossing the road" joke when I was a kid.

Now if that wasn't hilarious I don't know what was. But Dawn, you do realize that you've just probably doubled the amount of people who will find your blog by googling "bat poop"?

HI.LAR.I.OUS! Kids say the craziest things, but the best part is the hysterical laughter that follows.
