A colorful variation is to use starbursts, just warm them for a few seconds in the microwave then shape the same way
Dawn,Is the thin part of the petal at the top of the rose or on the bottom of the rose? They are really, really pretty.
Thanks for the how-to. You have such a beautiful voice... it was nice to just listen to you speak. Silly, I know. :)
Those look great! I hope to do those soon. I know you like Duff, but I'm a Cake Boss fan. Maybe someday I will get into cake decorating. This will definately be a start! Thanks!!
Awesome tutorial Dawn! I love that you can use chocolate melts!! What was that stuff you mixed in?
You are awesome! Brooklyn was a great help in learning how to make the roses. Thank you.
So cool! Thanks. I am hosting a girls night in for my friends at the end of the month and I am going to try these on top of cupcakes!
Thanks for taking the time to do this. I am guessing you can use this same technique to make figures for kids' cakes, right? I'm not a fan of fondant and I think I could have more control with this than strictly figure piping.
Roses are red,Violets are blue,Sugar is sweet,But so is chocolate that you add corn syrup to!
You have great hair.Yes that is what I got out of this video a love for your hair. And your voice is cool too.The roses were pretty neat i suppose.:)
Those look so easy even I could not mess them up.
Thanks for posting this - can't wait to try making them!
This is amazing! I agree with everyone about your hair and voice...YEARS ago I was playing with playdoh and did this same method and made beautiful playdoh roses and thought, oh, these are so pretty...never realized they had edible stuff that worked the same way! This is great to know! You are such a blessing and such a giver. So happy that you have had people stepping up and doing nice things for you...God will never leave your nor forsake you, so when the going gets rough and you feel like you are being attacked from every side...he sends special people along to bless you and remind you of how much He loves you!!! Glad you are having a great day. Love the video and look forward to more...P.S. I am sure you have been told this before, but your voice reminds me of Kirsty Alley
Love the video! Thanks for sharing some of your cake decorating magic with us!
Can you use any sort of white chocolate? I don't know what "candy melts" are :þAnd same method for marzipan roses?
Great how-to! I have long given up trying to pipe roses out of buttercream! This looks like a great alternative! Now I have to find a reason to try this out!
Dawn, these are awesome! I never thought I could make something so beautiful, but you made it look so easy. I can't wait to try it. Thanks for sharing!
Love them! Great video....can't wait to try them out.
These look great Dawn. Thanks so much for taking the time to show us.I'm not sure if we can even get corn syrup in Australia, think I've seen glucose syrup in the supermakrets would this do if we can't get corn syrup?

What a wonderful tutorial! I seem to recall that you were going to post your fondant recipe at some point - did I miss it? I would love a fondant recipe that actually is edible! I can't wait to try the roses!
This was wonderful it makes me want to bake a cake right now and make up some roses. Not sure if my boys would like a rose cake for their b-days but they might just get one!!!! I can't wait until August for my baby girls b-day too. And you are so beautiful with everything you are going through you amaze me. You're in my thoughts and prayers, and I hope that 2011 will be wonderful for you and your 6 pack!!!

Thanks so much for making and posting this video! You should have your own show! I could listen to you talk all day. I can't believe how calm you are with all that's going on in your personal life right now. Blessings to you! Brooklyn is such a cutie! Great addition to this video.I took cake decorating classes at Michaels several years ago and never did master the buttercream rose. Where did you learn this technique? This way is much easier and looks more fun! Thanks again!
