Sick

I've had a sore throat since Friday morning. I had a high fever for the first three days. Now I have pink eye to top it off. Unfortunately, so does Brooklyn and she cried the full two hours I was at high school orientation with Savannah tonight. In fact, the kids called me, "You HAVE to come home, Mom! Brooklyn's eyes hurt!" Savannah gave me a look like, "You're not really going to skip out on my orientation, are you?" It sucks to be pulled in different directions and want to do everything you can for your kids, but in the end, you just can't. I hope when they're older, that they know I did all I possibly could for them.

Anyway, Brooklyn's still crying on and off. I think it's going to be a long night. I think it may be about time for me to break down and get a stupid throat culture too. Maybe. But for now, I need sleep.

Go get some Colloidal Silver. Usually available at health food stores. A couple of drops in the pink eye and I promise you it will be cleared up in hours. It will NOT hurt, You will be swearing by the stuff.

I've had it so I know how Brooklyn feels. Poor girl! Hope she is better soon and your throat is too. Probably strep. Good luck! Jenn

Sore throat plus fever usually equals strep! This can also cause pink eye but antibiotics will knock both of them right out. I always feel so much better after that first day of the Z-pack! Feel better soon, Dawn!

Thought this was weird when I first heard it but tried it and it works!! Breast milk is best cure for pink eye. No recommendations on how to get any, hopefully you have some nursing friends that won't think you are too crazy. Good luck. ps. don't think the milk will help w/the sore throat...thank goodness, huh?

We had those same symptoms run through our house. My daughter had it the worst and when she broke out with the pink eye we went back to the doctor (again) and they finally diagnosed it as a sinus infection that had gotten so bad it moved into her eyes. Once they put her on antibiotics it all cleared up.

Good luck, it's noooo fun to be sick!

UGH! Pink Eye is the WORST! I've had it twice, thanks to my carriers, er, children. I can't imagine having Pink Eye on top of a cold! Get lots of rest, get some eye drops, and get better!

If you go to walmart you can get homopathic pink eye drops. I swear by them since my cats a pink eye carrier (she sneezes on me... I get pink eye)

Have you tried baking soda and water, take a cup of warm water, mix in a teaspoon of baking soda, get 2 cotton balls, dip one in the baking soda, wipe it gently over the closed eye lid, throw it away, dip the other cotton ball and wipe it gently over the other eye lid then throw it away and tip the liquid away, this helps take the itch and the hurt away and you can do it as often as you need to.

Hope you get some sleep :)

Strep, if left untreated, can wreak havoc on your heart and kidneys. It's best to get it checked out sooner than later so you are healthy in the future!

Let's just hope your husband does not get it too. 'Cause like my grandma always said:"there is no one sicker than a sick husband."

Not likely since the last time he spent any time with the kids was Christmas eve. @@

I hope you're all better soon! Of course your children will know that you did your best. It might take them becoming parents to fully realize how difficult parenting is but they WILL one day know just what you've done for them. :) You're an amazing mother Dawn!

I wish you a speedy recovery. This time of year really such health-wise... I don't know how it is in America, but this time of year, on top of colds and the flu, we also get the stomacheflu that feasts on whole families at a time and leaves the classrooms empty. Fingers crossed that you don't get that one as well.
Oh, and not to self. Do NOT read the mammogram-post while cradling the baby to sleep. I find that giggling and laughter-surpressed snorts wake him up.
Take care!

Ugh, Dawn, so sorry. You've got way too much on your plate. I hope everyone's feeling better soon -- and that you're all able to catch up on sleep.

I had a really big giggle when i read this because only this morning my son's aged 12 and 14 were having a laugh about pink-eye (we don't call it that in Australia) i tried to tell them what pink eye was but they would have none of it,..this is how you really get it....
you get pink eye when someone farts on a pillow and you then sleep on that pillow...
so now we know...aha..someone farted on your pillow!!!
