Kitchen Chat

What are you doing this Friday from 11:00am-12:00pm CT ? You're listening to my interview on Margaret McSweeney's Kitchen Chat, that's what! Margaret is one of those people who is just a total blessing to everyone she meets. I'm so happy to call her my friend.

Here we are in Sonoma. :)

And not only will you thoroughly enjoy Margaret's show, but she's giving away a couple signed copies of my book Because I Said So as well.

And, and, AND... (drumroll) YOU can star with me on the show! That's right! You can be interviewed on Margaret's show too. You see, I kinda hafta pick up Clay from school at 11:50. I figured I'd let him sit there and wait for me until 12:00, but I thought his teacher probably wouldn't appreciate that. I could leave to get him and and continue the interview on my cell phone, but I tend to get irate while pulling through the Kiss-n-Drive and that probably doesn't make for good radio listening. Sooo, this is where you come in. One lucky reader will get to talk to Margaret and spread the word about something fabulous you've done! Have you written a book recently? Are you organizing a big fundraiser for childhood cancer? What do you want to talk about and why? Leave me a comment here and we'll pick one person who will get to be on Kitchen Chat with Margaret this Friday from 11:50am - 12:00pm CT. And don't forget to tune in and listen HERE!

Dawn,

I havent written a book and I am not spearheading a major fundraiser but I am doing something to help my community. A couple months ago while reading our small hometown newspaper I read a letter to the editor written by a lady who runs the local senior center. In the letter she stated that the meals on wheels program was in dire need of drivers for their program. I called and signed up for the program thinking that I would do it in memory of my mother who died 9 years ago at 80 of brain tumor. After telling my older kids my plan they both decided they wanted to help too. So my 19 year old daughter Kadie and my 17 year old Son Luke started delivering meals whenever they needed us. It has been such a blessing. As we ride around we joke and havea great time. We go into thee folks homes and chat with them. We are sometimes the only people they see duing the day. Both of my kids hae decided to continue doing this even when they leave the nest. Today when we went in to pick up our meals the lady told us again how thankful she is to have us. She told us that its getting o hard to find volunteers. Its sad isnt is? This is something that is so easy to do something that takes an hour. Its something that everyone should try and do. These people deserve to have the community take care of them. To remember them. To love them. If you have a senior center in your area call and see if they need help. Whether it be delivering meals helping to make meals or whatever they may have that needs done.

The only really great thing I do, is that I try to take as much pressure as possible out of my family's life. This is also known as being a SAHM. No great excitement here, ;-).

Good luck for the interview, sounds like fun!

So long,
Corinna

So how do I listen to the show? Do I just click on your link and listen to it on her blog that day? I've never listed to a radio show except on a regular radio, so I'm new at this.

I've written a book called The Caregiver Organizer (used to be called By The Book: How To Take Care of MY Kids - you actually reviewed it once!). It's a workbook that parents fill out with information all about their kids for their babysitter, nanny, grandma, anyone taking care of their children.

Our next books, due out soon, will be on for caregivers of older adults and special needs children.

I'd love to be on Margaret's show and tell her audience all about our series of books! I can be reached at karen@karmelpublishing.com.

Thanks!

I'm trying to help in little ways which over time will help in big ways; making a conscious effort to do at least one or two things each month. For example, this month I made a donation to Haiti relief and made 6 prayer blankets for Hospice. I'm tracking my efforts over the year and at the end of the year I get to look back and see how they added up. I would encourage others to do the same. "The longest journey begins with a single step."

I'm organizing a marathon in Ouanaminthe, Haiti in January of 2011. I would love to take credit for the idea, but it's definitely one of those "God Moments." This idea has been in the planning stages since last summer and the Lord has certainly taken us for a joyful ride! I have had the privilege of working with several schools and an orphanage in Ouanaminthe, Haiti for the past year and a half. I started Restore Haiti in an effort to assist with the educational needs of the children in Ouanaminthe who desperately desire to learn. Education is often beyond their reach due to political upheaval, extreme poverty, natural disasters, and scarcity of public schools. I pray the running community will take their passion for the marathon and turn it into a unique fundraising opportunity for the children of Haiti. What A Ride! I can't wait...Would love to talk about it.

Hi Dawn,
I'm starting a free online writing experience for people who deal with weight and body image issues at my website. It's 40 days and starts on Monday, Feb. 1st. Each weekday morning I post a writing prompt that helps participants to examine their thoughts, beliefs, and attitudes about their bodies. It only takes a few minutes a day and can radically alter how a person feels about his or her body. The program is called WriteAway and can be found at my website: www.leahcarey.com/writeaway. I'd love to talk with Margaret's audience about it!
