I Help, Mama!

It was 60 degrees today! SIXTY! It felt like spring! I know it was just a temporary gift and we'll be back to freezing temps and snow in no time, but it was so enjoyable today. I just love driving with my windows open and the music blasting.

Unfortunately, along with the warm weather, comes melting snow, mud, and in turn, dirty floors.

"Ugh, guys! Do you know how to wipe your feet? Shall I teach a class on shoe wiping? See this floor mat? Do you know what it's for? No, it's not just a decoration. You can actually scoot your dirty shoes across the mat, thus wiping off some of the filth before marching across the kitchen floor. See how that works? Pretty cool, huh? Give it a try!"

As I cleaned the floor, Brooklyn offered to help me. "I help, Mama!"

See how she "helped"?
That's about 60 diaper wipes. She grabbed a wipe, took a little swipe at the floor, then crumpled it up. Again and again and again.
It's nice to have helpers.
You've got a few more hours to enter my drawing for an HP Photosmart Wireless Printer HERE! It ends tonight at 11:59 pm (Pacific).

Wow! I have a 2 year old that loves to get into the wipes box and the kleenex (that's heenex to her). It's so nice to have those enthusiastic "helpers." It was 77 degrees here today. Not much winter in FL! I enjoyed looking at your blog and reading about another big family like mine. :)

Hiya! Brooklyn sounds like such a sweetheart! Haha! Despite the 60-diaper wipe price tag ;)

Picture a small boy with HUGE wads of wipes in hand cleaning a single tiny fridge magnet... "I helpin' you mummy, I helpin' you" mmm, real helpful, $3 of wipes to clean a free magnet from the real estate company we didn't like.

Now if only I could harness it for good!

Oh yeah, been there! My kids like to help with the dishes. The floor in front of my sink is often cleaner than the rest of the kitchen :)

one thing i've learned the hard way....do NOT turn down their help when they are young......it's as scarce as hen's teeth as they get older.....

I had the idea for a doormat guaranteed to do the trick - my idea was to have a shallow tray filled with water as a welcome mat, with a large rubber backed terry indoor mat so the water all got absorbed as they stepped in the door. 3 things kept me from pursuing a patent: Ken, Andi, and Todd. I just instinctively knew they'd figure out a way to make a mess with all that water, and I had visions of the terry mat getting permanently caught in the under door weatherstrip and the door never properly closing again allowing all the winter in Virgina into the house. Anyone brave enough to try it - there's the idea - have at it!

At least no one brought in a block of dirty ice bigger than their own body and left it to melt. She'd need more than a box of wipes to "help" with that. I LOVE those warm days too.

So when you said "pretty soon" we'll be back to freezing, did you realize it would only be 20 hours later? *sigh*

OH! On the plus side, Mister Man and I had our first ever Sonic yesterday and ate in my car with the windows rolled down :)

Speaking of helpers... I just remembered I have wash I really ought to take care of before choir practice.

Hi Dawn, I have a SSO question..or maybe it will require it's own post. You've stated several times that you only planned on having a couple children and ended up with a litter :) I'm a mama who has always wanted a litter and have ended up with only a couple. I want more and am interested in adoption by haven't felt God calling us in that direction yet. But I digress. I know it's different for every person/couple but I'm curious how you and/or Joe decided whether or not to have another and another? And how you two knew your family was complete?

I have to say though that baby wipes work wonders. I use them for many many things. The other thing is at least someone helped. Any mom would be grateful for that right?

Wow - major de ja vu on this one. I always feel so conflicted when they "help" by making things worse. The pic also reminds me of how my 3 year old feels that a tissue is used up once she makes the tiniest wipe of her nose with it, thereby resulting in a huge pile of very slightly used tissues whenever she gets a cold! I guess I should just be glad she wipes her nose. It's all about expectations, I think.

I do believe I know helpers just like that.
