Happy New Year

I'm not planning on staying up until midnight for the first time in, well, for the first time since I can remember. I'm tired and we're leaving early in the morning for Wisconsin. My parents gave the kids a 2 night stay in the Dells for Christmas last year and we're going tomorrow with friends of ours. I'm not sure if the place has WiFi so I may not update for a couple days.

I was going to do a post about New Year's Resolutions, so I pulled up my post from last year to see what resolutions I made then. I didn't keep them so I made a modified list on January 31 of last year. I tend to notsomuch keep my resolutions every year so I'm using reverse psychology this time. That's right. Uh-huh. I'm always thinking. tapping the ole noggin

This year, I've decided to make a fool-proof list of resolutions that I'll be able to keep. Wink wink, I really won't be able to keep them, but that's ok because it's all part of my master plan!

1. I will procrastinate every chance I get. I will put off til tomorrow what I can do today on a regular basis.

2. I will not lose weight. I will be sure to not lose a single ounce this year. I will not start eating healthier and I will not start exercising.

3. I will lose my temper with my kids daily.

4. I will make sure my laundry is piled to the ceiling every day. I won't manage to get the clean folded clothes put into their drawers. I will never be totally caught up with my laundry.

5. I won't get more than 4 hours of sleep a night. I'll make sure I stay up too late every night.

Yep, that should do it. Given my less than stellar record of following through with New Year's Resolutions, I'll never do any of these things. And that's a good thing. You know, because of the whole reverse psychology thing. And, if by chance I keep my resolutions for the first time in my life, at least I can say that I kept my resolutions! It's a winning situation either way! See? I'm way too smart for one person.

Anyway, I want to thank all of you for reading my blog this past year. Thank you to everyone who has taken the time to leave me comments here and write me emails. Hearing from you guys really does make my day! :) I hope you all have a totally awesome 2009! Did I just write "totally awesome"? What year is it again??? LOL!
Have a wonderful, prosperous, healthy, happy, blessed 2009!

Happy New Year Dawn! I have followed your blog since the ebay auction and I have never gotten around to commenting on your blog. I myself don't have kids but I fully understand that being a mother is the toughest job on the planet and I think you are awesome for keeping a sense of humor through it all. Your blogs are always funny and I read them religiouly. Thank you! Billie

Oh Dawn, I love you so!! I just caught up with your last 3 posts & OMGosh I was on the verge of peeing! I'm stealing your resolutions, I love your creative use of the Stat Counter freaks & Jackson's little, er, big gift was too funny! I try to figure out why my kids do things too but it never works - I hate that!!

Happy New Year :)

If I were doing a reverse-psychology list it would look exactly like yours! I'm with you especially in the 4 hours of sleep department. DH keeps trying to tell me that getting more sleep would help with #3, but what does he know?

Have a fun trip. WiFi or not,

Enjoy the Dells, Dawn! And the drive up there (ugh). And hey, even if the hotel doesn't have wifi, you may be able to spy it elsewhere. I got mine in San Antonio from "007 rock star bar" and it worked great ;)

I hope the resolutions are a complete and utter failure for you. And how sad is it that I'm up reading blogs just so that I can say I was up until midnight? I think I ought to head to bed!

Happy New Year!

Have a GREAT time in the Dells. We went with our 5 children this summer and landed up spending an extra 2 nights at our resort. So much to do, so little time. What a blast for the kids and adults alike.

My New Year's resolution trick is to double speak. That way, you can commit to all kinds of politically correct crap without actually DOING anything. Like this: www.curingcoldfeet.blogspot.com.

You are my humor model, Dawn!

Dawn, I believe you may have started a trend here...haha :)
I too thank you for the laughs, sighs and thoughtful posts, including the ones that stop us in our tracks - the ones that make us give thanks for our healthy kids, and pray for those others who are less fortunate.
A happy and blessed New Year!

Yay! 2009 is here and each day is bringing me closer to the start of the school year and hubby going back to work.
I love having things to look forward to, don't you?
Australian Summers really make being pleasent around people who bug you even more difficult.
I need a vacation due to the fact that the rest of my family is on vacation.
Hope your holiday with the family has gone well and everyone makes it home in one piece.

hmmm, let me think, surely I can add a thought... I will try to consider thinking about the possibility of making an effort to change something somewhere without the constraints of a time oriented completion...not sure when I might be done lol! Great idea! I can get right behind this kind of list!

Hilarious! You'll finish the year a happy woman if you succeed in overlooking all of your 2009 resolutions ;-)
