How to Manage the Flu

The folks from Campbell's sent me this package a couple weeks ago and it just happened to arrive while I had all 6 kids home sick. What awesome timing was that?! Chicken soup and juice! It was just what I needed. I'm thinking it was supposed to be a nice school lunch kit with the lunch bag and water bottle, but I personally used it as a "Get Well" care pack. What's more comforting, when you're sick, than chicken soup?

Campbell's has 13 new kid friendly chicken soups, including Disney Princess, Cars, SpongeBob, and Goldfish pasta. Each of these new kids' condensed soups contain 24% less sodium than the regular Campbell's condensed chicken noodle soup and all of the kids soups meet the government criteria for healthy foods, with controlled fat, saturated fat, cholesterol, and sodium.

And especially when you're sick and getting dehydrated through vomiting and/or fever, it's important to replace those fluids. We went through a ton of V-8 V-Fusion juice a couple weeks ago. We all really love this juice to begin with, but while the kids were sick and not interested in eating at all, I knew they were getting fluids, calories, vitamins, and fruits and vegetables through the V-Fusion.

Campbell's has a flu pack lunch pack with 2 bottles of V-Fusion, 3 cans of Campbell's condensed chicken noodle soup for kids, a lunch bag and a reusable bottle for one lucky reader! Just leave me a comment here and I'll choose a random winner on Friday. Good luck!

I don't know about you, but I'm tired of illness already. We have had H1N1 flu, sinus infetions, bronchitis and stomach bugs since school started. I'm hoping at least my kids will have a good immune system when they grow up.

That lunch kit would have been really handy when 9 of my 10 were sick over the last few weeks. :)

It would be nice to have this package. It would be an "emergency grandkids are here for a visit" kit for me.

Does it count if it's strep throat, or does it have to be the flu? ;)

Oh, and ummmm did you cut out all the labels for education from that soup and juice? (Any guesses what I just finished doing for the PTO tonight?)

Please sign me up for the flu pack! ;o)

This would be so awesome. My kids haven't gotten the flu (yet), but the school ran out of vaccines before they got their's. I just keep hoping it won't hit, but just in case....

Oh boy! I bet it was a wonderful surprise when this package arrived in the mail. Don't know how you handled 6 sick kids at once. So glad they all got thru it safe and sound. I would love to win this lunch pack for my soon to be 7 yr. old niece.

Looks like you got it just in time! I hope I don't need it for a flu pack, but would love one for a lunch kit. :) Glad to see everyone is better at your house.

My kids love V8 Fusion! My youngest refuses to eat any fruits or vegetables, so this juice is a life-saver!

With the flu running rampant through Massachusetts, this sounds like a great emergency kit to have on hand!

My kids and I have never tried the V-Fusion before--not that we haven't wanted to--so it would be lovely to win and be converted!

Darlene S said...

Oh, it hasn't hit us yet, but I keep feeling the kids' foreheads when they sneeze or make a comment about their belly hurting. I'd love to be ready for the worst!

I have a 18 month old who will not touch veggies and only eats a few select fruits. I am always looking for ways to sneak them in, & the V-Fusion is one of them. He just loves it!

I would love to have this kit! My son, who is 2, has been sick off and on for the past 4 months! We have been to the doctor more times in these past couple of months then we had in his entire little life! Sometimes the only thing he will eat is the Campbell's kids soup! Hopefully I will win this! Have a great day!!

Some days the only way I can sneak veggies into my toddler is to give her the V-Fusion. As soon as anyone in my house gets sick I reach for it and campbells soup too!

What a lovely gift and what a perfect time of year. :)

Found you when I googled "married to an alcoholic" in the blog section. I, too, am married to an alcoholic who is still struggling with recovery. Every day is hard and, like you, I find comfort in knowing I'm not alone. I have yet to blog about it, but I could see that happening if I reached a point!

God bless!

Hey Dawn,
That was a great package. I have three girls and they have been sick for the last two weeks. No pig flu
just strep and viruses. That package would be great as no one can swallow!!!

Sharon said...

we are into week 3 of someone in our family of 7 being down for the count. I made "homemade" chicken and noodles for the kiddos, no dice. They whined for the Campbells. bought 20 cans---down to 3! Lost count of how much juice we went thru. Will summer ever come!!!

Would love a Get Well pack have a sick kid at home now and will most likely have another soon! so glad it came to you at just the right time!
