Well, we're back to reality here. While I was going through my mail, Clay, Lex, and Brooklyn (collectively known as "Notme") poured water on the couch. Clay threw a pair of scissors at Lexi and cut her cheek. It's awful. I may let him out of his room sometime next year. At dinner, Clay "fed" his plastic toy lion some pasta. I don't think the noodles will ever come out of its mouth.
Actually the plastic lion is part of my oldest son's animal collection. He used to be obsessed with animals. One year, for Christmas, he asked for a warthog. That's all he wanted for Christmas. Just a plastic warthog to add to his ever-growing animal collection. He even wrote Santa a letter asking him for a warthog. Let me tell ya, Santa looked high and low for a warthog. He looked at every toy store, every learning and teacher supply store, Lincoln Park Zoo, Brookfield Zoo, The Milwaukee Zoo. You name it, Santa looked. This was several years ago before Santa owned a computer, so he couldn't just find one out there in cyberspace. He ended up finding one at via the telephone, at the San Diego Zoo. The woman I spoke with told me that they didn't ship things from the gift shops, but she made an exception for me after I told her my story. My son was one happy boy come Christmas morning when he got his warthog.
Anyway, I hear my baby in the kitchen sneaking marshmallows for the Rice Krispie treats I'm supposed to be making for the Halloween parties tomorrow. My oldest daughter just called across the house to tell me that there's chewed gum on the bookshelf, my middle son is screaming and fighting with everyone and my oldest son is asking me to help him solve 7=5/6c-8. Welcome home!

At least you have made some wonderful memories and YOU have the photos to prove it!

I'm glad you are home, after a few days of rest and relaxation. Did the kids enjoy? So get yourself settled in and start sending out photos and storys. We can't wait.

It sounds like you need another vacation!!
Great post, up until I read about the marshmellows and realized that I am suppose to send snack tomorrow and I forgot to make the marshmallow treats I promised my daughter.....
c=18
7=(5/6)c-8
8+7=(5/6)c-8+8
15=(5/6)c
6*15=(5/6)c*6
90=5c
90/5=5c/c
18=c
Ha, ha--loved the "Notme" line!
I'm very impressed that Santa looked so diligently for a plastic warthog. And I'm glad it was an ultimately successful search! (I never would have guessed one existed).
I hope you're enjoying being home after your amazing vacation!
Does c = 20?
Welcome home!
Wait, wait wait! c=18
LOL, glad to have you back to posting regularly again...but sad that your vacation high only lasted, um, 15 minutes or so. ;0)
LOVED the warthog story, lol! Proving that every kid is unique, and meant for a special purpose in life...perhaps yours will be a warthog expert or a zookeeper?
I'm sure by morning someone will have that problem figured out for you! Sorry, it won't be me. I took pre-calculus in college but you know what they say "math is stupid". Nah, just kidding!
"If you don't use it you lose it!"
I'm glad you had a good time on your trip!!!!
c=18, as I'm sure everyone has already told you. But I had to get my 2 cents in.
My youngest lives on the marshmallows and lollipops we're always bribing her with to let us get something done. I have no idea how we are going to break that habit, now that she is the permanent "baby."
Gotta go - she's asking for chocolate now.
Reality always hits like a brick wall doesn't it. My kids started school the day after we got back from vacation. Poor planning on my part. Packing lunches finding uniforms etc, etc. Welcome back!! crazysoccermom.blogspot.com
7+8 = 5/6c -8 +8
15 = 5/6c
6*15 = 5/6c *6
90 = 5c
90/5 = 5c /5
18 = c
c = 18
If its an algebra question anyway.
Mommyhood...Gotta Luv it!!! :)
Doesn't it always seem to work that way? After a week of relaxation and vacation and children who act like angels you come home and the bottom falls out and their little horns start to grow back in.....you sound like you had a wonderful trip! Hang in there....
Have a happy Halloween and we look forward to seeing pictures of all the creative outfits!
Ummm...at least you'll have the recent vacation to look back on when things go awry? No? (Oh yeah. Murphy's Law.)
Dawn, I swear you make me want to crank out another 5 kids on some days, and beg my husband to get snip-snipped on others.
I'm betting Clay will be one of those "change-the-world" kind of people when he's grown up and let out of his room.
Welcome Home!! How's the laundry pile? That's always my deadful back to reality chore! Good news is... today is the day to indulge in your kids' candy...c'mon take the good ones!! Hee hee

Press On Sister.....usually after the mountain top comes the valley...right? Anyway glad you had a good time on your trip and isn't it good to be home? (;
A fellow mom,
Mari
It's so hard to get back into the swing of things after having some time off from the routine.
A warthog...hee hee! WTG, mom (or should I say Santa) for finding one. That's devotion!!
Yay! I get to be the first one to leave a comment... I've been reading since the ebay stuff months ago but never left a note - you're awesome and so endearing. I'm so thrilled for you and your recent success! I feel for you and your 'back to reality' - I about blew many gaskets (do we have more than one-- I'm sure if I do, they were blown) last night and I only have 2 kids - one with 2-year molars coming in and a sore booty (happens every time he teethes) and he's my "2-foot ball of anger" lately. SO fun! Anyhow, have a great Halloween!
Welcome back! there's no place like home!
Sounds like a typical evening at my house :)
Here I thought algebra was pretty easy... lol what does C equal? I've come up with fractions, some negative some not, but they're all wrong. :) Do we get a gold star if we do come up with the right answer? lol
Welcome home! Sounds like you are falling back into your normal chaotic routine. Even though it is chaotic it does feel good though. Don't forget to slide your sons bread and water under the door now and then.
Last Christmas, my son asked Santa for a key chain with a SCUBA diver in it swimming in the ocean with fish all around. Santa was not successful. We found a key chain with a picture of a SCUBA diver in the ocean, but it didn't have water or fish and it didn't move. Santa was in the dog house for awhile. This year, Jack is going to ask Santa for a shark he can carry in his pocket, like the Puppy in my Pocket toys. Poor Santa.

Hi Dawn,
Sorry to hear things are so hectic around your house. I can't say that I'm surprised, though. This happens to my kids, too, every time we go on vacation. I think they just get so hyped up about the trip and all the excitement, etc., that coming home is kind of a letdown. That and the fact that they've probably reached their quota of "being on their best behavior", they have to let it out or they'll blow! :) Things will settle down in a few days, I'm sure. (You just have to get through Halloween, ugh!) Take care and hope you're all feeling better!
For my son it was Beavers. He decided as a superhero that he would be "Beaver Boy". Flapping his imaginary Beaver Tale was his super power. He "warned" the other beavers when danger was present. My husband and I went on vacation and when we asked what he wanted us to bring back for him he of course wanted a beaver. Well..let me tell you..beavers are not so easy to come by either. We ended up finding one online. Then my mother went to Italy for 2 weeks and lo and behold..she comes back with a Beaver shirt..from Italy. Who knew!?
I only have one notme so far, but he's a human tornado and has to count for at least one and a half. We've got another on the way, and I have to tell you I'm a little scared!
I remember one Christmas when all my little brother wanted was a trash truck. Everyone searched high & low with no luck. Finally my aunt found one in NYC and saved the day. I wonder whatever happened to that truck? I bet my tornado would love it. Oh well, it was long enough ago that it's probably all sharp metal edges & dipped in lead paint.
It took a minute, but I did get the answer to what c is! Nice to see others got the same answer.
My son is obsessed about vacuum cleaners. I have no idea why...he's 2 1/2, and he doesn't see Mommy vacuum all that much (working mom, hour commute...you get the idea)...but boy, that kid is insane when it comes to vacuum cleaners!

i don't know which is worse--preparing and packing and planning to go on vacation or "un"-vacationing once you get home...both are are mentally and physically exhausting and we're just a family of 4! Glad you're home safe!

raflmao I shouldnt laugh but that is soooo familiar to me the 'notme'
I have fairies that live in my house and seem to create alot of the mess. I keep walking around clapping my hands to kill the fairies but they still keep coming back?????? (for all you fairy lovers out there I hope you realise that I am kidding about wanting to kill fairies?)Safer to say that than wanting to wring childrens necks? Isnt Pumba from the lion king a warthog?
It seems as though your kids are making up for being so well behaved on vacation. :)
The warthog story was great. It seemed so little, so easy and inexpensive. And then you try to find it...
I'm so glad you had a wonderful vacation. I'd love to do something like that sometime. I know it'll happen in about a million years though.
Don't you just wish on days like today that you could go back to bed and wake at the beginning of the day again? Or, just skip today and go to tomorrow?
My son wanted a ring tailed Lemur. Only that.....we live in the UK, Santa found the ring tailed Lemur at LA zoo! Hoorah for Santa!
That is the sweetest story about the warthog! Welcome home.
Ahh, I see we have a bunch of showoff's with a need to solve the problem. It made my brain hurt looking at it. My kids lost me after they hit 5th grade for helping with homework..
I tried to find a "scoop" as he called it..... backhoe for my son a few years ago with no luck. Made phonecall after phonecall and it seems they don't make them anymore. I think I was more dissappointed than he was.
That is one dedicated Santa, I'll tell you. You get major kudos for that.
Hey my kids have the same name! Notme!!
Well welcome home!!! We are all glad to have you back!!!
Just remember My Dear Aunt Sally. Multiply, Divide, Add, Subtract. That's the order you do things unless the teacher has put parenthesis to indicate which is done first.
So your kids are the ones making the mess in my house! Every time I ask "Who left their books on the sofa?" "Who's been sneaking Rockstar Energy Drink?" or "Who's turn is it to clean out the litter box?" I get the answer "Not me".
And I've been so mean thinking it was my kids!
