I'm a single mom of 3 girls
and 3 boys, trying to juggle
kids, work and laundry with
the help of God, family,
friends and wine (not
necessarily in that order)
For anyone who's interested, Trish and I will be on World News with Charles Gibson tonight at 5:30 Central time on ABC. Now I've got to find a videotape and hire a rocket scientist to set my VCR.
DVR!! You gotta get! I am so not a rocket scientist, but I can set this! push one button and go! Even with the kid tugging on the remote, the dog pulling trash out of the trashcan, the husband wining abot whats for dinner, the in laws calling and saying you visit us enough (they're 2500 miles away in vegas)- they make planes for that lady- there are planes that come to Baltimore! Have a good one!
So you will be hiring my daughter then.. ?? I guess it would be funnier if you were a frequent reader of my blog, I frequently refer to my daughter as [The Rocket Scientist] and my son [The Protean Genius] she's available at 5 on the dot ;) Should we bring something? ;P
I can help! I'm a rocket scientist! (not kidding :) )
With most of your current models, setting the VCR to record is as simple as ever. First, figure out how to set the timer. Then reverse the order, and voila!
Or you can do what I do and buy a TIVO. Better yet, sucker a TIVO out of ABC, saying how you have no time to watch their 'wonderful programming', and your VCR still has yogurt in it.
Can't wait to see it! Don't worry, everything will fall into place. CBS will be calling you back as soon as they find out what kind of response you get from the ABC segment. Then you can have them "call your people" and hope that "your people" don't write the message on the wall in crayon.
Dawn - you are so awesome, I love your blog. I just recently became a lia sophia advisor and I would love to get you a great piece of jewelry for your interview. If you are interested go to my website and let me know what you like and your home address to send it to. www.liasophia.com/leishamlindsay
When I am feeling down.I can come here, and read what you have written. And for a moment, I can forget about my troubles and even manage to find a little bit of laughter. I was on National Television once. I managed to make the Geraldo Show back in the 1990s.
Dawn, this is wonderful. I'm so happy for you. I hope a lot of people check your blog periodically throughout the day to get this message so they will watch. Congratulations!!!!! Margie
I, too, was going to suggest hiring a toddler to set the VCR. Something about VCRs make setting the timer only easy for children. Weird. Unfortunately, I do not have TV (yes, we are one of the 3 homes in the US who do not have a television), so I'll have to see if I can get the live feed on the internet. Congrats again on all your success!! I believe you are only at the very beginning of what God has planned for you!
I am digging around my house in search of a blank VHS tape, too!
And get this - we only have the old fashioned antenna, and ABC does NOT come in well - kind of fuzzy and streaky.
Yes, I know, we need satellite TV.
But we are going over to our neighbor's house to watch since they have satellite, a big TV and a clear picture.
And, I just hope they know how to work the VCR....that is if I can actually locate a blank tape in the pile of Disney videos, VeggieTales DVD's and Barbie stuff.
Can't wait to see your family on the air, Dawn..I feel like I know you so well already!
Finally, we have the much-awaited television coverage for our hero Mom!
YOO HOOO...CBS! You could've been first! But...NOOOOOOOOOOOO! Just had to put Brit/F-Ked (or Deadhead or whatever his silly name is) out there instead. ABC ROCKS...just like you, Dawn!
Oh, wow, that's 6:30 my time, and, gosh, I just might actually be home and not carting my child to classes or other such things. If I skip my own, again, aid with homework and such. Hope you get it taped:) I don't even bother with those things any more, lol, hard enough for me to figure out how to turn on just the television, never mind the other video stuff. Ellen said to just set the timer and then I lost it. I just press the buttons on the timer until it stops blinking:)
I had to leave a comment on the whole doctor thing from your blog towards the end of last week (I was out of town attending a 100th bday party for my husband's Grandfather!) Anyways one night a couple of years ago my son wakes up breathing so rough it sounds like he's gasping for breath.
I sat up with him for two hours in the bathroom with the shower running (for steam) because sitting up he breathed better, wondering if I needed to take him to the emergency room or if I was just panicing . . . well as suddenly as it started it stopped and I put him back to bed, and went back to bed myself. 20 mins later my daughter who is 2 years younger started . . . I was sitting up for another 2 hours, (luckily our apartment building has huge water heaters so we virtually never run out of hot water.) After she started breathing fine again I went back to bed again. By this time it was after 4 in the morning. Well the next day I took them to the docter because I needed the reassurance that I had made the right decision. Well they docter looked at me like I was the silliest woman in the world, and told me they had croup (CROUP! the only time I've heard of that was on Anne of Green Gables!) and that it was just a form of childhood larangitis and no big deal. Well he wasn't sitten up with them half the night wondering if they were slowly sufficating or not!
Dawn, thank you so much for your blog. I enjoy reading it everyday and know that all Mom's, whether we have a 1, 2 or a 6pack, are WAHM or work away from home, that we all go through the same things, well maybe not quite as entertaining as your life, but "stuff". It is so good to know that craziness is normal. And you always give me a good laugh.
Please please get it on Youtube it's the only way I'll be able to see it ( don't ask me how to do this, ask the rocket scientist lol)or put a link here.......or.........something!!
GOD THAT PHOTO OF THE BABY FREAKED ME OUT! Until I read "chocolate." You are good parents! Chocolate early is critical to good development. Manic Mom sent me over. Nice to meet you! I guess I'll watch ABC tonight!
Let us know if/when it gets put on You Tube. It's 6:40 at my house and I didn't watch Charlie tonight. My friend came by and I was visiting with her. :-(
Crap! I tuned in late and must have missed your part. Does anyone know if I can find Dawn's interview online? I tried looking at abcnews.com but couldn't find it!
Hi there! I missed it! We were in the middle of moving with 3 kids, a cat and a dog plus my inlaws were here from Holland!! (they have left for home and hubby is also there a day and a half later for work! I needed this break.) Is there anywhere that I can see it? I checked the ABC News website and Youtube but nothing so far...
