-------------------------------------------

Creative title, no? I'm just speechless. And anyone who knows me, knows that NEVER happens. I'm still working my way through mail that's coming in faster than I can read, let alone respond to. I thought I'd just post a couple quick highlights from the thousands of comments I've received.

QUESTION: Are they all yours?
ME: That is SO funny! ROFL! Did you just come up with that?

QUESTION: Maybe I just didn't catch the sarcasm, but your feet aren't really amputated, are they?
ME: Yes, they are. Did you catch the sarcasm that time?

I've had numerous comments from people who'd had a bad day, who'd just received bad news, who had recently had surgery and were in pain, or who had just gotten home from a horrid shopping trip with their little ones. They thanked me for brightening their day and giving them a laugh. They thanked ME. Little ole me. Plain, ordinary me. Wow what a boost! Let me tell ya, it feels great to know I made someone feel better.

I've also had countless people write to tell me their own shopping experiences. (I'm saving those to read later.) Thank you for sharing!

I've had innumerable emails from moms (and dads and grandparents and teenagers) telling me that they could totally relate to my story and thanking me for letting them know they are not alone.

I had one (literally ONE out of the thousands of emails) person write and tell me that her kids always behave perfectly in public and are never a source of public humiliation. To her I said-
:::sound of crickets::: OK, that about sums up my response.

For anyone interested in numbers -

As of right now, I've had 18,417 people hit this blog today (despite the fact that the traffic had it down for a while there this morning.)

I've had 149, 023 people hit my auction.

I have 2,736 watchers on this auction.

I've had 1/2 a cup of coffee instead of my usual 6 because I feel like throwing up from all this attention.

I had to call in 2 reinforcements (ie grandma and grandpa) to watch the little ones today so I could sit on my butt reading mail.

I've had 18 finger cramps from typing too much.

I've had 3 job offers.

And we've got about 2 hours to go on this auction!

I'm a mom of five ages 9,9,6,4,3 and you had me in stitches with your ebay auction. I love your responses to that ever endearing question "Are they all yours?".

Left me smiling after a long day of school, soccer, baseball and everything inbetween.

Seriously, check in to writing. You have a gift.

You need to be on Letterman or Oprah!! I hope they find you...you are a bright light on an otherwise average day! Thanks to Grandma and Grandpa...now you must REALLY be exhausted! You really should write a book and self publish. I just did it. It is fairly easy and with the amount of hits you've had, you shouldn't have a hard time marketing it!!

Hey, another that discovered your blog through your Ebay auction that a friend emailed me about!! You're famous!! ;) LOL I posted about your auction at my scrapbooking site too - everyone loves you. :) http://www.scrapbookeronline.com/index.php?name=PNphpBB2&file=viewtopic&t=13660 You can read that if you ever get caught up on all your other emails. :D

Hope you are recovered from your double amputation. That must have been quite traumatic.(I have finally learned that some people just don't get sarcasm. I can't function without it.)

You are funny. I will be back to your blog even after the auction is over.

I think you're taking it a wee bit far, the limelight is nice but don't let it burn you. You were on Digg, which makes you a mini-celebrity - but please remember that glory and yes the limelight fade quickly, so bow out honourably and tell the world whatever you want to say now while the light is on you, as tomorrow it shall move on to someone else.

Good for you! SAHM gets a couple of days in the sun! Since that rarely happens, I commend you sister, on your great job!

WOW! How COOL are you?! A friend posted a link to your EBAY auction on her blog. I had no idea you were THIS popular! I probably not quite cool enough for ya (just kidding!) but I wanted to say, along with the thousands of others, that YOU ARE FUNNY! And, as the mommy of 3, the youngest going to kindergarten tomorrow (eek!), I can completely relate to your story!!! Thanks for the belly laughs!

I just want to tell you what a great blog you have and how much I've enjoyed reading the last few posts. I'm single and childless, but hopefully not forever. You really put having a big family in a great light. Good luck on the auction!

My husband wants to know if you are going to use the money to buy the kids new Pokemon cards?! Heck no, I bet! I hope you use it for something for yourself... like a mini-cruise. :)

Hey, I won't tell you to try online grocery shopping because then you would miss out on collecting amusing anecdotes to share with your new fan club. hehehehehe

OMG - your auction was hillarious!!! I posted a link to it on my blog. Maybe you should let your kids sneak things into the cart more often for bids like that. :)

I cried laughing reading your auction. Being a mother of 3 (all 5 & under), and hating the grocery store... I can completely relate! If we get out of the store with out a meltdown then we have conquered and triumphed! Good luck to you, I look forward to reading your blog!

I know you won't get a chance to read this, but congrats on the auction! I am amazed at the idea of 6 children, and offer my congratulations at still being sane and my sympathies that they act like children in public... times six!

Dawn,

I loved your listing on Ebay! I just wanted to let you know that I can help you with your grocery store nightmare and not knowing what to cook. I have written My Family Meal Planner. (I actually made it for my sister for Christmas last year, she has 4 children.) I planned out 4 meals per week for 12 months out of the year, all the recipes and grocery lists are included in the book. They are all simple, easy recipes, including a crock pot meal most every week. Visit my site www.myfamilymealplanner.com. I would love to help make your life a little easier and send you a free book!

You had me rolling when I read your auction. You should seriously think about writing a book. :)

I am sorry all the attention is bothering you, but you are definitely making the rest of us smile. And laugh, and smile and nod our heads when we relate to the whole shopping (with multiple kids in tow)experience.

You Rock!

For the gazillionth time, I was sent your ebay auction today by my DH. I promptly forwarded it on to the mothers in my life after dying laughing and since then, I've been reading your blog. Problem is, I NEED TO GO TO SLEEP!! Your posts are sooooo funny, I can't stop reading! Help, my 3 kids will be up early tomorrow morning whether I get enough rest or not....and I homeschool, so I need to make sense in the morning to a 6 and 5 year old. Okay, I'll just read a little more, then go to sleep:-)
Great writing. Gives me hope for my brain cells as a new stay at home Mum!

I am the mom to 5 and yes, I can relate. I actually heard the entire story from your ebay page, read aloud over a local radio station. Now picture this. I am sitting at red lights at every other block, laughing so hard I look as though I am having convulsions in between lights. Your story was very familiar to me. My other favorite thing in the grocery with a brood is for the child whose bladder is the smallest, and who drank the most water when you past the water fountain, suddenly HAS to pee just as you are reaching the front of the store to get into the check out line. Of course the restrooms are in the rear of the store.

Anyways, spoil yourself a little with your winnings! Also, thank you for making my ride through town a little less irritating today.

Rock on!!!

Yep, I can relate!
I also have six kids who go to the store with me. And yes, sometimes it is a long stretch between trips. I started a year later than you (or couple months?). I have Brittany (12), Katherine(11), Kaycie (9), Samantha (7), Jonathan (5), and Benjamin (2). Your shopping trip "sounded" very familiar.

Thanks for sharing,

Oh My Gosh! I don't know how much more I can read without waking the whole house! I have 6 kids also. I am glad the say they have all survived potty training and are all in school now. (oldest 15 youngest 7.) I think I am laughing so hard, because it isn't me. (Not being mean just honest. lol) I love and respect anyone who can make it through a day of kid fights, cook, cleaning and anything else a toddler can trough at them. (Black Forest cake doesn't come off of popcorn ceilings very well! I know!) You are now on my favorites list. (I know just what you needed more email and comments.) Best of luck to you.

Hilarious. You are hysterical!

And I have four boys and I get the, "Are they all yours?" question all of the time. And the "You have your hands full." And "Are they all boys?" and "Better you than me." and "All boys? How sad." (That person would maybe have gotten a pounding if she had been on my side of the deli counter when she asked it.)

TOO funny! And hey, nice compensation for the shopping trip from hell eh?

:^D

You're hilarious! i have already read it twice, and i also sent it to my dad because i know it will make him laugh. i am only 1 of 2, but we were raised soley by that strict-ish dad, so we were mostly well behaved... kind of... i think :P

you're an amazing mother to not sell them, and because of that it seems you've become a little of a celebrity. what fun! rock on!

I am loving your blog! I saw a link to it from another blog. The story about the Pokemon cards is hilarious!

So I started reading older posts and just started giggling..trying very hard not to wake my 5 year old (computer is in her room, or more to the fact, she shares a room with the computers).

I did want to add something to the potty entry. My daughter learned to potty train the "poop" first before the pee. It came to me one day after cleaning yet again more poop. I was mad as can be and yelled, why can't you poop in the potty, that's where it belongs! Well, she then asked me why the poop goes in the potty and after I had cooled off, I came up with the story of the "Poo party". That if you poo in the potty, and then flush it, it goes to the waste treament place where all the other poo's go and they have one big ol party. Well, she loved the idea and so after that moment, she would poo in the potty, call for me and we would stand around and wave bye bye to the poo and bid it farewell to the party hoping it will have fun with the other poo. She got so good at this, that she would leave the poo in the potty so mommy AND daddy could bid the poo farewell. Thankfully at almost 6 years of age, we no longer have to do the farewells. But she does still tell me stories about the poo and what she imagines they are doing at the party. She now wants to visist a waste treatment plant to see the "poo party" firsthand.

Well, I hope you get a lot of money off the Pokemon cards.

Your ebay listing is the funniest thing I have ever read! Thank you SO much for that! I'm laughing so hard that I'm sitting here crying. As a mother of 5, ranging from 13 yrs. old to 1 yr. old, I just can't figure out is I'm crying because it's so freakin funny, or so painfully true!!

Don't worry too much about the net fame. It tends to be fleeting. Which isn't to say that you won't get a new audience of people reading your blog, but this initial huge rush of interest will settle down soon. (Yes, I've been net famous, but it was a long time ago and no, I'm not particularly famous any more.)

Maybe it'll prove to be a great turning point in your life, and it'll open new doors and so forth... You know, since Erma Bombeck died, there's been a distinct lack of funny housewives writing books and newspaper columns... ;)

Your grocery store trip resembles mine with the exception of 2 children. That is I have 8 children in tow IF I take them all with me. My husband sent me the link to your ebay auction and I totally relate to your story. He once asked me how we could lower our grocery bill to which I replied, "Send me to the store WITHOUT the kids!" Anyway, I'm putting your blog in my favorites and I'd love to share my blog with you. You can read my blog and articles at http://www.braveheartwomen.com/landbountiful.

I do agree that you need to be writing and if you're not ready for a book then please consider writing articles.

Your humor is needed in this world -- spread the laughter and feel the world release some of its tension...

I just had to thank you for brightning my day. I awoke this morning to my newly two year old son (newly meaning that he turned 2 yesterday) jumping on my completely full bladder at 6 a.m. this morning yelling "mom, mom....dog ate cookie!" (not sure WHERE he got a cookite from at 6 a.m. and not sure I want to know) and knowing it was going to be a LONG day. A friend sent me a link to your e-bay auction and I just about peed my pants laughing from your auction. So just wanted to say thank you for the great laugh!

I was sent a link to your ebay auction. I have five brothers, and it was great to read what might have been my mother's point of view on many, many a day.

Thanks for sharing a little bit of your life with us. Even though all but one of us has surpassed 18 in my batch, there are still occasions where a few of us are together and my mother warns us to stop doing something, we invariably don't... And end up accidentally throwing a shopping bag at a woman's head. Or tearing open a 30 lb bag of rice in the store. Or running through a glass door.

God bless you moms.

Oh. my. goodness.

I can't remember the last time I laughed so hard. Trouble is, I have eight kids myself-- everything, absolutely everything you wrote is true. I have taken that shopping trip myself several times (although for some reason the kids usually manage to snag cosmetic items rather than pokemon cards.)

Are they all yours? Good grief...

A friend saw your ebay ad and sent it to me. I been there I have 6 ages 16 - 54 and the 54 year old is my husband. Shopping is an all day event. Here is one for you. We go shopping in a 15 passenger van plenty of room right? No way. She looked at me, he pointed at me etc. We get to the store and the before we can get out the second lectures starts that is the one that happends because someone will ask if they can and why they can't have cookies etc. Ok now we are out am in the front (mama duck) ducklings in a single line with papa duck pulling in the rear. Who gets a cart first and head for the junk aisle? Yep you got it the papa duck then ask why do we need to spend ex amount of money on food? Good question I say. Here is an answer for you. The kids that live with us each eat groceries and none have a job and they bring guest to each and every meal and that includes breakfast. His respond is how did we get so many? I think surely he knows by now. Yep have a half dozen kids and there is never a dull or a moment alone not even in your thoughts.

Oh my, that eaby auction was the best thing I have read in a while. Currently, we I have a 19 yar old step-son already OUT the door - praise GOD for a HUGE miracle. A 17 year old step son, still here at home, our 7 year old girl, and a 10 month old baby. Oh yes, the other big kid, as you so totally pegged, my 43 year old husband!! Oh my, I almost forgot, my 79 year old mother-in-law who just had hip replacement surgery is also here with us until her full recovery. And isn't it convenient that my husband had to go out of town on 3 business trips the first three weeks she came to stay with us (1 week down, 2 to go!) So her I am taking care of 3 kids and a crippled mother-in-law! Plus she can't climb stair where the bedrooms are so her bed is just outise our family room! Oh, and I too have two amputated feet from my 7 year daughters shopping cart experience, ("mom, I can push it myself!")

Girl, I can totally relate to you! God bless you and all the mothers out there! Now, will someone tell me where the Calgon is? Someone probably poured it down the toilet!
