Vapur Bottles

I was approached by the makers of these Vapur bottles a few weeks ago. I was intrigued by them (the bottles, not the makers), so I agreed to give one a try (again, the bottle, not the makers). My kids and I like to drink water on the go, but I hate to spend money on bottled water, not to mention the whole "trashing the earth" factor of bottled water, so we have an eclectic mix of water bottles and sippy cups that take up like 158 cubic yards in my kitchen. Do any of you have a cabinet overflowing with bottles? You know you do if you've ever had to open the cabinet, throw the bottle in, and quickly slam the door shut before everything comes tumbling out.

These Vapur bottles are lightweight and flexible. The bottle stands upright when it's full and collapses flat and can even be rolled up, when it's empty so it takes up very little space. It comes with a carabiner ring so you can clip it to backpacks, lunch bags, purses, whatever. The Vapur bottle also has a spot to personalize it with your name (not that it'll stop your kids from swiping your bottle... ahem, JACKSON!) Actually, I can't complain that Jax took my bottle because he brought it with him to St. Louis last weekend and saved the day with it. When we were walking around the zoo, Brooklyn started whining that she was thirsty. Instead of having to spend like $5 on bottled water or pop, Jackson pulled the bottle out of his pocket and ran to the drinking fountain. Voila! We were all spared from Brooklyn's whining and didn't have to take out a loan to buy everyone drinks (because parents of more than one know that you can't just get one kid a drink, oh no.)

Bottles cost $8.95 for one or $29.95 for a family four-pack. And since you can keep refilling this with tap water, it's a heck of a lot cheaper than buying bottled water every week.

These bottles are durable, dishwasher safe, freezable, BPA-free (BPA is a toxic chemical found in many plastic containers that can leach into the container and be ingested by humans), come in bright blue, green, or pink colors, and hold 16 ounces of fluid!

Additionally, the environmental benefit of using the Vapur is huge. Reusable bottles help reduce the estimated 60 million disposable water bottles that end up in landfills every day in America alone, according to the Container Recycling Institute. The Vapur is also manufactured in the U.S. and ships flat, resulting in a carbon footprint that is significantly less than other plastic bottles.

Finally, as a member of 1% For the Planet, the company is donating a portion of all sales to water related environmental causes. 1% For the Planet is an alliance of businesses that donate at least 1% of their annual revenues to environmental organizations worldwide.

These bottles just make sense. Use them and you'll save money on bottled water and you'll help save the earth too. Plus, as my son and his friends say, "These bottles are cool!" So, there you have it.

Now I've got 3 Vapur bottles for 3 random winners! Leave me a comment with how you'd use these bottles or what feature you like most about them and I'll choose the random winners on Friday. Good luck!

I did receive one free Vapur bottle to test out before writing my review, but was not paid for this post.

***** Edited to answer some of your questions *****

I admit we've only had this bottle for about 2 weeks, so I can't honestly say that it lasts forever. I don't know. It might, it might not. The way I look at it, even if it only lasts 6 months before needing to be replaced, I'll still be saving a ton of money on bottled water.

Also, several of you have asked how easy it is to clean. It's top rack dishwasher safe. So far, I haven't had any problems cleaning it. Of course, we just put water in it so it's not especially dirty or anything, but it's been coming out clean with no problems.

To the person who mentioned using these in airports, what a fantastic idea! I didn't even think of that! You can take the rolled up bottle with you through airport security and fill it with water on the other side, saving yourself a $5 bottle of water!

And finally, you can buy them HERE.

Love these bottles. Where wouldn't I use them...at the gym, hook em to my bag. At work, throw it in my drawer when empty. In the car.

Great new product. Thanks for the review and giveaway.

These look pretty cool, and probably really good for lunch bags. I have a stainless steel one for my daughter and sometimes it leaks, this looks like it wouldn't leak and she can roll it up when she's done with it.

P.s. Just delurking to comment and maybe win!

I recently started running, so having something like this bottle would be great to take along.

Plus, my husband likes to have a bottle of water on his nightstand, so we go through at lest a case a month, and I'd love to save money and the planet!

These bottles look cool - I am always looking for ways to transport drinks...I have 4 under the age of 5 so we drink lots of water around here (among other things)

Very cool!! As the mum of 9 kids (yes, NINE!) I am always trying to find a better & easier way to provide my kids with water without the expense & pain of bottled water.(not to mention what to do with the empty bottles because my purse can only hold so many!) I love how the Vapur bottles collapse! Again I say, "VERY COOL!!"

Chris said...

I ordered three of them-you order them through Amazon so maybe those of you outside the US can get them too. By ordering three, I got free shipping. Almost like getting one free. You can't get the 4 packs yet. Pick me Dawn and I'll make sure my kids get the three I ordered plus the one I win!! Chris in PA (post #2)

Those are cool! We have some water bottles, but I hate having to drag around the empty bottles after we drink them, so I end up leaving them in the car half the time. Or at home. I'd love to keep one of these rolled up in my purse to fill up (even from the car water bottles) and then roll it back up and tuck it away when we're done! I love the airport idea, too, btw!

Jen said...

I carry water with me everywhere but can't stand to lug around the empty bottle. What a GREAT idea!!

Adrienne said...

I love the idea of these water bottles! I could definitely see keeping one in the diaper bag for when we need to get a drink somewhere! Thanks!

What a neat idea. I love that I can squish it down to save space!

This looks perfect! We all carry water bottles to school, work, sports, etc. I love the portability of this, because sometimes I forget my water bottle, and I could leave this in my purse for emergencies (well, at least twice a week in my case!). Love the carabiner, too.

This would be great to take with me to play rehearsals--and it'd keep me from being tempted to buy water or soda from the machine in the green room. :)

My husband and I are full time students and both hold part tim jobs. We are constantly everywhere. Since I found out I as pregnant we have set a goal to drink more water. But I can't get him to take a water bottle in his backpack and the hard plastic one I use leaks if not held upright. I would be excited about something so convienent.

Heather said...

With my 3 kids we have multiple cabinets filled with plastic bottles falling on our heads. These collapsible ones sound like they will solve those problems. Of course, the kids will still probably lose them or throw them away at school, but maybe not.

Did you have any leaking issues?

Kelly in Texas said...

Oooo! I like it! Cool that you can break it down, squish it, and roll it! :)

Jessi said...

I have to say those bottles look really neat! I love flashy water bottles, because I don't drink nearly enough water, but a cute bottle inspires me to drink more than I normally would! I love the fact that these can be stored flat, because I definitely have the cupboard overflowing situation!

Tammy said...

Very cool! I might have to invest in some. I worry about the BPA thing, and I hate to think of the bazillion empties in landfills.

Lisa said...

I have something similar, although not as cool looking, that I have used for YEARS and YEARS with a Platypus logo on them. I bought mine at REI and they have traveled all over the place with me. I often use them to travel with wine in an unbreakable container :-)

They are REALLY sturdy and they don't hold flavor from what was in them last.

Those are very neat. My girls love to take bottled water to school to drink during class, because they aren't allowed to have anything else. The issue I have with that is, I get so tired of cleaning up the water bottles, and buying water bottles every single week, because unfortunately our water here just sucks. So-that's what I would use them for. It'd be great to be able to freeze them and then just send them off to school with these and them stay cold. Fabulous give away-hope I win!

This bottle is really cool! I love that it's so easy to store. I have VERY limited cabinet space so this would be perfect for me! They would also be great to keep in the car because you could just put them in the glove box and they'd be out of the way!

Missi said...

Those are AWESOME!! So do they fit in a cup holder in a car? I use a water bottle in the car for my son & I while waiting to pick up my daughter. I really like the part that they lay flat or roll up for easy storage, wouldn't roll out of the cabinet as easy that way. I'm sure the little clear cap would be lost in about 2.2 seconds around here though. Missi

The vapor bottles are kinda fun looking, but just to clarify - you can take an empty bottle through airport security, too. I usually do - I fill it at home, drink what I like until I get to security, dump it in the ladies room, and refill on the other side. You don't need a special "hideable" bottle.

Michelle said...

Well this brought the commenters out of the woodwork, didn't it? ;)

I'd use these for Mister Man. He takes water to school each day for snack and for lunch. I bought him two reusable stainless bottles at the beginning of the year, but we're now down to one because one had paint start chipping away at the lip of it. These? No paint. And no BPA. And fingers crossed easier to open and close than the one we're using so it doesn't end up all over his backpack by the time he gets home from school.

So, I'm just wondering how dorky I'll look with this attached to the long loopy thing that I hang my keys around my neck so I don't lose them? I am constantly thirsty. (yes, I am diabetic, but the thirst is because I'm also starting down that other wondrous journey of womanhood, and am constantly sweating like a clydsedale pulling 3 haywagons) This would just make it SO easy to have my cold water right where I won't forget where it is! Bouncing happily on "the girls". And for the first part of the day, I can freeze my water in there, and just tuck it in BETWEEN the girls for refreshment THAT way! I can just see it now... "umm... Oooh, I want 1. And then maybe I'll buy more. And then maybe I won't risk injury or death when I open my cabinet door to try to find the Spider Man Water bottle!

I could take back the top shelf in my pantry that's loaded with water bottles! Love, love how they collapse!

my son and I have a long commute. I often will keep my old soda cups and refill with water - but they get gross, and bend, and he breaks the lids and then a 44 oz wave of water baptizes my car so I'd probably use these for our commute. great idea.

Those are so cool!!! I work part-time at a store and it gets so dry. I always have a water bottle with me. I also have three kids who are involved in sports and other activities that involve them needing a water bottle. This product would be perfect!!!

Pam said...

oooh, water on the go. But, I like the idea of rolling them up and perhaps leaving a few in the car for when kids are thirsty but there are no sippies in sight.

WOW- I would love to have one for my son. My son is in a portable at school and the water is not safe to drink, so he has to carry a water bottle to school everyday. We have been thru 2 already because his bookbag is bulging at the seams! Text books, library books, binders for this class, binders for that class, lunch boxes, and the water bottle. This would save him room in the overflowing bag! And he would have the "COOL" factor among his classmates. (3rd grade- 8 years old) How GREAT would that be?

I love this product! I have to use bottled water on my sidetable during the night, because my cats like to put their big fat heads in glasses. This would be ideal to have something I could use over and over again. It also would come in handy when I travel.

they DO look super cool!

This water bottles are so cool! I also have a million sippy cups and yes, they do spill out of the cupboard when I open it! And this would be great to take to aerobics class and then shove in my bag when it is empty.

With having to drink at least 64oz of fluid everyday this would be a tremendous help!

sounds great with two small kids they love spouts like that and who cares if they squise out a little extra

What an awesome "green" product! I really like the part about how little space they would take up to store or take along with you and fill up elsewhere - great idea for the airport! Thanks for sharing Dawn!

Aleta said...

so so cool - but how does the inside get clean in the dishwasher?

As a broke college student, I would love one of these water bottles to use instead of having the caf. rip me off every day with their over priced bottle water. Add to the fact that I can just roll it up when I'm done, it is perfect for the matchbox size rooms we live in :-)

What a great idea. I could take one to work in my purse, stop at the YMCA to do aerobics and fill it there with cold tap water.

Sonya said...

I LOVE the comment about using them on airline travel! I would buy them ALONE for that reason! I carry water with me EVERYDAY while I am at school--so do my kids! I am ALL for re-usable water bottles!

Those look really neat! I especially like the airport idea!

With four kids, this looks like a great water bottle (even for school backpacks).

Very cool idea; however, if airport security won't let me take a four-ounce tube of toothpaste through security, I doubt they will let me take a 16-ounce empty container! But, the idea of being able to store these bottles without taking up a ton of space is wonderful! I like to freeze a bit of water in my bottles, then add the tap water, and I have cold water for a bit longer.

Wow! What a unique water bottle! I love that it folds up! This would be great to keep in my purse and pull out like a magician when my little girl complains of being thirsty.

Those are really neat. I am constantly filling the boys water bottles to take with us in the car, to soccer practice, etc. We too have many bottles lined up on the counter and piled in the cabinets. We just can't seem to find our favorite ones yet. Maybe this style bottle will be the one!

I would love to win this cool bottle! Me and my son drink water all the time, so this would really be great when he's whining for a drink!

I need one of these! I keep dropping the hard plastic bottles and breaking them, so I'm looking something a little more goof proof!

I always carry a bottle of water in my purse and it seems to weigh a ton. I just buy one bottle of water from a gas station and reuse it over and over again. Saves me money, but I think this would be alot more handy!!

These look and sound pretty cool! As a mom to 5, I can totally relate to being out and having to buy a drink for EVERYONE because ONE is thirsty! Thanks for the opportunity!

God bless!

Those bottles are great! We have a cabinet full of sports water bottles! My daughter just came home from school with another one today and I sighed, "oh great another one??" I would love to have a couple of these to take camping or for boy scout/girl scout outings!

Thanks,
Kathy

These would be great to take to school. I always forget the bottle on my desk. I could stick this easily in my bag.

That would be so handy for my Husbands lunch bag!

I totally sympathize with your assortment of sippy cups and bottles. In fact, I was just reminiscing how I stressed about getting my oldest off the sippy cup, and I'm totally content to have my youngest keep drinking from one until he's 32. Except for the whole space issue. And the fact that if he's doing that, chances are pretty good he'll still be living at home. I think I'll change that answer to 12. I think I'll give those vapur bottles a try except we buy bottled water and then wash those bottles out, because I am cheap. $30 for 4 does seem like a lot. We'll see!

I would love to pack these bottles in my kids lunch box! Thanks!

These look amazing! I'd love to have one for work!

I love that these fold up and don't take up so much room to store. It sure would be better than buying all of those bottle of water. Living in Arizona, I usually freeze my water bottles, so these would be great.

Karla said...

I love that it folds flat and won't clutter up my cabinets. I also think it would be great to take on car trips and refill on the way.

Hope I win!!

These look great. My Pipsqueak would love to take one of these to school as her water bottle.

My twins started kindergarten this year and we were disappointed to find there was no recycling program within the school. In the past four weeks we have gotten the school started recycling. I love that these bottles are reusable, refillable, washable and collapsible!

Oh my gosh, what a great idea. I have a basket under the sink full of water bottles-- they take up so much space!!!

Anything I can fit into my purse without taking up more space is a winner. Thanks!

Oh, how cool. I hate lugging around the big "sports" type water bottles all the time, since, you know, the mom has to carry everything. Plus, if I let the 3 year old actually try to drink out of a water fountain he ends up soaking wet, shirt to shoes.

Nicole said...

That is awesome. I definitely think we're going to have to get some of these. My son (Tristan) constantly nags me for something to drink, he drinks more than he pees, no doubt! This fits in my oh-so-small purse when its flat, can be unflattened whereever we are and Voila! Tristan is no longer nagging! How nice that would be?! It seems every morning before work I'm in such a rush I forget to grab a juice or something for him and we end up stopping to get Bug Juice- which he loves, but isn't so great for him. This is a lot easier. You mentioned personalization - what a great feauture. Though Tristan can't read - His 7 year old best person to argue with sister- definitely can. No more "That's my cup, NO that's MYYY cup!!! MOMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMM!!!!!!!!!!" conversations. Hallelujah Vapur makers!!!!!

Thanks for the review - greatly appreciate it, so excited!!

(It's funny how excited I get over water bottles that will give me at least 15 more minutes of peace in my life, eh?!)

I work in an airport so this would help me when I go to work (yes, they even make employees throw out bottled water and "liquid foods" for lunch i.e. soup and yogurt. lame i know...)

So cool!

I love these bottles!! I want one for each of my kids. I can totally relate to the avalanche of water paraphenalia falling out all over the floor!

jennifer hooper said...

OMG hands down we would use these at sporting events... Its so hot in crowded stadiums and the drinks are $7 a pop (including water) you cant bring in full drinks..but this would roll up and fill at the fountains! then maybe we could actaully afford tickets for all 6 of us to go to the same event :) plus with me in class from 5-10 2 nights a week, it sure would save me in bottled water money (and trash)
If I dont win i will be watching to catch a better deal on these!

Amy Flippin Blankenship said...

Here's how I would use these bottles...

BASEBALL, BASEBALL, BASEBALL...oh..and now that winter season is coming, we would use them for BASKETBALL, BASKETBALL, and HOCKEY!!!

Thanks for the review, Dawn. These are KEWL! :)

My kids go to a charter school with an environmental focus. They have to bring a reusable water bottle with them every day. The school even implemented a waste-free lunch program this year, so no more juice boxes either (other than the reusable plastic ones). You can imagine how my cabinet is overflowing with reusable plastic bottles. These look like a great idea!

I could use one!

Our bottles always seem to get left at ball games. I could use another one.
