Paula Deen Giveaway

Those of you who have read my blog for some time, know that I hate I'm not overly fond of Walmart. I'm just not. Maybe it's the fact that the parking lot stinks. Maybe it's because there are like 2 cart returns in the entire lot. Maybe it's because I can never find anything in the store or because I don't appreciate the quality of the merchandise they carry. Maybe it's the other people who shop there that bug me. Or perhaps it's because I love Target so much and can't imagine going anywhere else for my toilet paper, shampoo, diaper wipes, laundry detergent, kids' clothes, birthday presents, etc.

That said, I stopped by the Walmart display at BlogHer last week because Paula Deen was there since Walmart is going to be carrying her baked goods. My kids love watching Food Network and trying out her recipes. I was personally just trying to see if her sons were there. (Did I just say that out loud?) I mean, I just wanted to hear her talk because she's got that quintessential southern accent that just makes you smile.

She offered me a sample of her baked goodies. "Here, try a gooey butter bar," she said.

I asked her, all concerned-like, "There's not any butter in these, is there?"

She looked at me like I was completely stupid, then said sarcastically, "No. Try one."

I like her! LOL!

So, I have this reusable Walmart bag to give away to one reader. It contains some sort of lip gloss, a dry erase picture frame, some baby food and a pedometer. But the best part is that the bag is signed by Paula Deen!

Leave me a comment here and I'll choose one random winner on Monday, August 3. Winner will have until midnight on Wednesday, August 5 to check back here and email me with their shipping address. Contest open to U.S. residents.
I don't do paid reviews, but I did get this bag for free at BlogHer.

I would hope those sons of hers were there, too! And as for butter, nah, she never uses it in her recipes :)

i am a huge Paula Deen fan, and as i've discovered in making her recipies- they all require at least 2 sticks of butter- but that jut makes them even better!

I'm with you with Walmart, but do brave them from time to time. Much prefer Target. Hipper stuff, better store layout, quicker to get out . . . Still, love Paula Deen and have a great lidded iron casserole from her brand at Kohl's.

What? No gooey butter bar included?

Cool, hope I'm the random winner that gets picked. I've just recently ran onto your blog again. I had it bookmarked on my pc that died last year.

Haha! LoL, I loath Wal-Mart as well, pretty much for all the above reasons! But I do have a baby and I like bags and lip gloss.
PS: We did Crocodile Dock at VBS this year, just wait until all your kids do the "Shout as loud as you can shout part"... in the car!

Our Walmart has rummers of them getting rid of the plastic bags and only doing those reusable bags so it would be great to have a jump start on that and having it signed by Paula to boot!

After being laid off this past Thursday due to automation (don't you love when computers take over your job) I would love to win this as a little pick me up. And to answer the question, what are you going to do now, I am going to find a new job.

LOVE Paula Deen! I also LOVE some Walmart, HATE Target!! I always make sure Target knows that when I go in there. They NEVER have what is on sale (at mine anyway) and they never have express registers open when I'm buying the one thing I did find and am paying by cash and the one line that is open has 6 women with screaming kids with loaded carts! That's when I head to the manager! LOL

Hi Dawn, came across your blog and your Paula Dean story. My wife has recently begun blogging so I am anxious to show her your blog- I thnnk she will enjoy it. We are parents of nine and too hate "dislike" Walmart. But the bag is what is really what this comment is all about. This would be a great addition to our Aldi bag collection (hot/cold bags, brown bags, plastic bags, tea bags, etc.), to our Dave's Grocery Store bag collection (paper or plastic, or would you like to buy our new cloth green bags- of course I would). Oh, don't forget the duffle bags each of our kids has, and the hand bags that the five girls collect, and the very run down diaper bag (the 8 year old thought informed me yesterday that we really needed a new diaper bag). So, really..... my wife is not a big fan of Paul Dean but my mother in law, "Mimi" loves her. As tempting as it might be to have another bag around the house, I would probably just score some points with Mimi. After all she did stay with our nine children last weekend so my wife and I could go to St. Louis for our 23rd anniversary- The funny thing is I had the hardest time finding a bag to pack.

But I DO LOVE Paula Deen! She is such a hoot and I just about pee my pants when watching her on tv. I would LOVE to have the bag with her autograph! How cool is that!

I'm with you about Wal-Mart. I don't know what it is but everytime I am in that store there are a ton of screaming kids in there. If I'm at Target it's the same people, but none of the kids are screaming. I think that they put something in air at Target.

Paula Deen is great!
Here's the thing with Walmart...for me...I'm a bottom line girl and my bottom line is lower there. Costomer Service? Not so much! Quality of stuff? Eee well, depends. Clean store? Yeah right! Easy to check out? Never! Happy people shop there? Not! Everybody's got a big ole but and my but is...with 5 kids I need one stop shopping and and the lowest bottom line :) Yet I feel happier at Target too! SIGH!

Donna said...

Pick me Dawn! I'm a self-declared Walmart junkie for no other reason than there wasn't a Target close to me to shop. But a new one just opened up, and I'm quickly becoming a convert. I love Paula Deen! No butter - yeah right.
