Don't Fret the Age Sweat

I'm writing articles for the website, DontFretTheSweat.com this year. The site is up and running now! Check it out! Some other fabulous writers, doctors, experts, and I have partnered with the makers of Degree, Suave, and Dove deodorants to provide helpful articles geared toward parents of tweens. We'll cover all those topics that make you sweat. Get it? Sweat - deodorant. Sweat - tween moments that make us freak out. We'll talk about topics like helping your tweens build self-confidence, handling peer pressure, helping them to do well in school, handling cliques, and expressing individuality to name a few. Check it out, click on "meet the experts", and leave me a comment there so I won't be the only dork with no comments on my article.

This is the last post of my young, vibrant days. In 5 minutes, I'll enter a new decade. And the thing about turning 40 is that you're only 10 short years away from turning 50! Heck, I remember when my MOM turned 40! I remember thinking she was so OLD! I think I need a glass of wine...

And those 10 years between 40 and 50 fly by with increasing velocity.

But hey... the way I look at it, 50 is the new 30! So don't "sweat" it! (get it?)

LOL

Happy birthday, Dawn! Actually: you will only enter the new decade one day after your birthday -- so enjoy today! (I used to think 40 was soooo old, but -- the 40's are great years!).

So long,
Corinna

Find "Older" friends and than you will not feel so old. Age is only a state of mind after the age of 21 or so. Coming from someone who can't remember her 40th birthday and what she did to celebrate that eventful day. Have a blessed year and a blessed decade.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY Dawn!! The original Vegemite girl sends huge congats on reaching this awesome decade of life. THIS is the decade where you really won't give a toss what every other tosser thinks (no really, even less so than you have done in the past), where your brain works in wonderfully fast-forward ways and comes up solutions that a 20 year old can't even imagine and a 30 year old can't imagine doing and your dreams become more vivid and prophetic. Hope you had a wonderful day, a relaxing night and gave yourself permission to be take some time to do what you want and need to do.

Technically, you're about to enter the last year of your 4th decade (if that makes you feel any better!).

0-10 = 1 decade
11-20 = 1 decade
21-30 = 1 decade
then 31-40 is still the same decade.

So you see, it's not so bad!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY DAWN!!!!

I thought 30 was harder than 40...my sister sent me black balloons on my 30th with a card that said tick tock. Guys at work thought I WAS 40. So, 40 was easier.

Enjoy your special day!

HUGS and HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!!!!

You know I've heard 40 is the new 30 (and have been grasping that idea mightily since I will be 36 in a few weeks!!)

LOL Actually I am looking forward to 40, I have made a lot of changes in my life over the past year and have lately been reflecting on them and thinking of the ones I still have to make. I am happier now than I ever have been and am looking forward to seeing what 40 brings.

I know you are going through a lot now, but don't forget to think of all the great things you have accomplished too!!

HUGS!!!!!!

Just tried to leave a comment on the other site, and it kept kicking me off with an invalid birthdate, attempted it several ways, and it wouldn't take?? Glitch perhaps??? Might want to check on it....

Since it is now the 10th, HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!! Don't sweat being 40, Dawn- we all manage to survive. I think I am coming into my own. I am hitting 42 in May and I think this decade will bring beautiful things. It has to be better than 39, right? Praying for an amazing birthday filled with blessings and love. Celebrate well. It was wonderful to meet you at the Dove event.

Happy Birthday! Don't sweat the age thing, it's a waste of time. You can't stop time or aging and it sure beats the heck out of the alternative so embrace it. All the fretting does is increase the stress factor and I don't know anyone who needs more stress. We are told we must be young, we must be thin, we must be beautiful. We spend so much time chasing the ideal we forget to live the now. Embrace the now and the start of this new chapter in your life and don't worry about the age thing.

Happy Birthday, Dawn! If I read your post correctly, you were counting down until your birth time (based on your comment of 5 minutes and your post time), so that would mean yesterday was actually your birthday. Hope you had a great day full of birthday wishes and behaving kids. Did you make yourself a cake or did one of your clan make one for you?

Happy Birthday Dawn!! Join the club - I just turned 40 too. I think I worried about it the entire past year and made it a lot worse on myself (as if worrying ever changes anything!). I'm still really in denial to be honest. But just think in 10 years we'll be wishing we could stay in our 40s instead of moving onto 50, right? I hope the sun is shining in Chicago today just for you!

Happy Birthday! The 40s are so much better than the 30s!

But, in my third decade I was trapped in a cubicle and so far in my 4th decade I graduated from college, had two babies, saw my teens turn into adults and now I'm gonna be a granny! Never a dull moment when you are 40 something!

Happy Birthday Dawn.
I didn't mind turning '40' but suddenly I am still realizing I am over '60' now and I hate that.
I used to think being '60' was just sitting in a rocking chair all day. I tell people I am '49' yrs old. LOL

Anyway, it's all in how you feel that counts and I learned the busy you keep yourself the better you will feel.

Have a great '40th' year !

I agree with Suzanna- almost 50 and can't figure out where 20 odd years went(and some of them WERE odd). My mom was old at 40- she wore oxfords and cotton ankle socks already. But she was ALWAYS old. That was acceptable then, and she apparently didn't mind. Happy Birthday, though! Forty isn't so bad. Of course I'm creeping up on 50, so what do I know?!

Happy birthday! and yeah, you still have about a year before getting into the next decade. I believe you were informed about this already!

Happy Birthday!!! I turned 40 last year, and to tell you the truth, it is no different from 39! I think the important part is how you feel and act.

And it sure beats the alternative, which is not being here to have a birthday, so I'll take our "old" age any time!

Welcome to the 40's Dawn...we've been waiting for you. I know you hate cake but I hope someone got you a pretty little bottle of wine. Did you get any great artwork from the kids? I'm sure they did something nice because they're a sweet bunch.

Hey Dawn,
Happy B-day, I'll be hitting 40 myself in July and I'm not looking forward to it! I had a great comment/story to leave you on the Don't Fret the Sweat website, but it would let me leave the comment, saying the birthdate was invalid. I don't think I'm the only one with the problem based on the other comments I've seen above. Might want to have the webmaster take a look at it for you. Thanks!
