Viewer Mail

I've got the best readers in the world! I want to take a minute to thank everyone for your nice comments to Julian's family and thank you to those who have sent them cards and/or made donations to Make-A-Wish Foundation in Julian's honor.
And thank you for everyone who has sent us a card or letter from your town. Wow - we've gotten about 160 now! We appreciate all the time you've taken to look up information about your towns, and we are loving all the pictures of your landmarks and families! Besides the U.S, we've now gotten letters from England, Canada, New Zealand, Japan, Guam, Puerto Rico, Germany, France, Ireland, Scotland, Netherlands, and Sweden! Thank you so much for taking the time to send this information to us! I wish I had the time to share all of these with you because they're very cool! Here are a couple pictures though...

Here's the mail. It never fails. It makes me want to wag my tail. When it comes, I want to wail, "MAAAAIIIILLLL!" (Sorry, I just had a Blue's Clues moment. I know, I know, it's sad. But on the bright side, I wasn't singing, "There's a party in my tummy, so yummy, so yummy!")

This isn't even all the postcards. There were several postcards and other pictures included with the letters.

Check out this postcard! It's from a reader named Shirley. Both sides of this card are printed on fabric and it's edged with thread. How cool! Do you make and sell these cards, Shirley?

Viewer mail is making me think of some TV show. Letterman? Oh well...regardless - very very cool! I knew it would be! Is your son loving it?

And that map thing is out of this world! You can click on it and it will give your directions! (Not to anyone's house - don't panic everybody!)

Glad to see you are back to working the night shift like the rest of us. Heh, heh, heh. You freaked me out the other night with a post at 6:25 pm!

Have a great night - what's left of it!

Oh and BTW...first? Ha, ha!

Mine is the red envelope. It was left over from our Christmas cards. I'm glad that I could help with your son's project.

Any readers out there from Indiana??? I'm dissapointed to see no representation from my home state! Maybe I'll have to send another letter bout my hometown in good old, IN.

Wow I promise I am going to send you one from here in Australia but I dont have a postcard from our town we do have a brochure though so that will be coming and one from our nearest town.
That is so cool to get all that mail though. I cant view the map it stays blank and has the arrows in the corner of the screen but that is it? Yes I do have my eyes open too.

Rosey's madhouse -
I'm sorry. I don't know what to tell you. Tha map with all the markers shows up for me. Can you click on it and go to the Google map site?

You should be getting a card from West Australia some time soon. After I sent I realised I forgot to include my contact details (if he needs more info than what I put on the card). Any day is a good day if you receive mail that isn't a bill.

Yay! My letter from Sweden made it! Thank godness I was faster than usual, we had a major robbery at the Swedish Post Central yesterday, lots of letters disappeared. Good thing I didn't put that off :D
So, what is Austin really thinking? Is it: "Great! Homework practically done for me" or "Yikes, mom has some wierd friends"?

I see Scotland's already represented (hurrah Anna Aberdeen)but could you remind us of the address to send a card to. We're not too late are we?

(Do you think all the other parents in class are going to realise you have a blog when your son has ten times as many cards as anyone in the rest of the class??)

I see Bekah in Rincon, GA! Yay me! :-) It is so cool to see how much mail you have received. What is his classroom doing with all of this information? Is there anywhere that Austin has gotten a card or letter from and told you he wants to go there on vacation or move there? Thanks for all the updates!

WOW!!! That's incredible!

Glad that Austin is getting so much input for his project--of course we all knew he would! Love the Blue's Clues mail song- but I gotta tell ya, for a guy who hosts the show when it comes to spotting the clues he sure has a hard time! (I guess he's "clueless"). ;-)

Hi Dawn, I am still working on getting a postcard from Clayton, CA, it is such a small town I can't find anyone there who sales postcards!!! I try some of the surrounding towns...

All the snow blocks are out on the streets of the city, slowly being turned into amazing snow sculptures all over the place! I can't wait to get out there and take photos for you guys! The actual Festival isn't until February, but Austin won't know what to do with all the photos I send him lol. Maybe I'll have to email the bulk of the photos, and just mail the post card and letter. Dunno, but I want to get dog sled races and log sawing races and stuff in there.

I think I can see my postcard from Maine. Also, my song for the day now is"There's a party in my tummy, so yummy, so yummy!" Thanks!

Nice, but Münster doesn't lie near Hamburg. It's the other Münster between Bielefeld, Dortmund and Enschede ;o)

Greetings from Münster/Germany ^.^

Just a few things if I may.....

TOMORROW-THURSDAY, wear yellow for Julian.

I apologize for not sending mail from my town. It's Joliet, nothing exciting going on here. I often refer to it as the armpit of the world. I suppose Austin could quote me on that in his project.

And finally, to the reader complaining about the Blues Clues song stuck in her head....it could be worse, ever hear Hero Guy from Sesame Street or maybe The Song that Never Ends from Shari and Lambchop? Just start singing something less annoying and then Blues Clues will go away.

Yeehaw! Mine made it.
I was reading the other reader comments. See, I knew i wasn't the only one that would send a leftover Christmas card, hee, hee.
Keep up the good work. Love the blog.

About Julian - thank you for introducing me to the Avery family. I cried over the loss of King Julian. God bless his family. I keep the verse the Mimi put on one of the updates in my purse:

Find rest, O my soul, in God alone; my hope comes from him.
He is my rock and my salvation;
he is my fortress, I will not be shaken.
My salvation and my honor depend on God; he is my might rock, my refuge.
Trust in him at all times, O people; pour out our hearts to him, for God is our refuge.
Psalm 62: 5-8

God bless the Avery family.

What's up with that little tippy top part of the US? Is there no US postal service there? Why can't anyone from way up there send a little maiL???

TM, try Walgreens for the postcard from Clayton. I live in Manteca and I'm waiting to get there so I can send a postcard from Manteca, CA. As far as I know Walgreens is the only place that sells them, or you might try your chamber of commerce! We also have a winery in town so I could get one there as well, but I don't think it would be too cool to advocate a winery to children! hee hee
My granddaughter use to sing the mail song all day long and just seeing the words has made me sing it all day as well. Thanks Dawn!
I wish I had your attitude when my three boys were growing up. Like so many moms I was always worried about the messes, if only I could have those messes back. I can't tell you how many times they say "You would never let me do that" when I let one of their kids do something messy or a little overboard! I guess I've learned to "chill" a little over the years! You are so amazing and your kids will grow up so well adjusted! Diane

My heart broke a little bit more each day I read the updatess on "Julian's World".

I did not think I could feel anymore grief or heartache than the day I read about Ju Ju's passing. I felt as if I had lost someone so very close to me.

Now, I am reading about the inconsolable pain Mimi's is going through. There are no spoken words to comfort her...my heart is breaking some more.....

This family has touched me in more ways than I can express.

I humbly pray to God to help the Averys in every way he can to heal.
I ask Him also to let Mimi feel my arms around her, my thoughts of comfort and my love.

Mimi ~ I will be sending you my love & hugs Thursday

Dawn:

I heard a joke today and thought of you. Have a good one! I hope to pick up a postcard to send tonight from Vancouver, BC.

CUSTOMS INSPECTION

After an overnight flight to meet my father at his latest military assignment, my mother wearily arrived at Rhein-Main Air Base in Germany with my eight siblings and me - all under age 11. Collecting our many suitcases, the 10 of us entered the cramped customs area.

A young customs official watched our entourage in disbelief. "Ma'am," he said, "do all these children and this luggage belong to you?"

"Yes, sir," my mother said with a sigh. "They're all mine."

The customs agent began his interrogation: "Ma'am, do you have any weapons, contraband or illegal drugs in your possession?"

"Sir," she calmly answered, "if I'd had any of those items, I would have used them by now."

The official allowed us to pass without opening a single suitcase.

Just two hours before Julian, my father-in-law passed away. He was a very special granddaddy to my young children and an inspiration to my husband. It makes me smile to know that he and Julian are having a party together in Heaven with Jesus. Can't wait to see my father-in-law again someday, and maybe I'll get to meet this special little boy too.

Hi Dawn,

I saw my postcard (black and white cows under a blue skye with could in a typical duthc landscape)between the others so it arrived in good order.

However since this a schoolproject I have to tell you We are not on the right spot on the Map.

My home town is Zwolle, not Capelle aan den IJssel.

Our IJssel is the large sidearom of the river Rhine.

Of course I can live with us not being on the exact right spot. I know it can be hard to find it.

"Sorry, I just had a Blue's Clues moment."

Never apologize for BC moments. Especially when those moments involve Steve. Because Steve is hot. Yes, hot. See? http://profile.myspace.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=user.viewprofile&friendid=123276650

Behold the hotness of Steve!
