At this event, we were told that 8 out 10 women are wearing the wrong bra size. EIGHT out of TEN! We poled each other after our fittings and sure enough, I think 9 out of 10 of us were in the wrong size. (I was close, but was still off by a bit.) When I tried on a bra in the correct size, holy cow, I didn't have to tuck my boobs into the waistband of my pants! Seriously, it made such a difference! How many of you know someone who's boobs sag in an ill-fitting bra? How about a person who always has quadraboobs (you know where she spills out on top creating the look of a four boobs)? Yeah, most of us don't really want to look like we have udders under our t-shirts. I cannot stress enough the importance of getting a professional fitting! It just takes a few minutes. Do it!
And here's another little tip. Not all bras are created equal. You have to try on a bunch of them to find a style that suits you well. For example, if you're well-endowed, a demi-cup bra is probably not going to be the best option for you. So, I tried on a few Wacoal bras and decided on one that I liked and that fit well. The first time I put it on, I thought, Ohmygosh, this is so tight! Holy cow, I can't breathe! It actually wasn't tight at all, but I'd gotten so used to my lose-fitting bras that it seemed strange. And now, I can't stand to wear any of my other bras so I'm washing my Wacoal one nearly every day. In fact, I just ordered a couple more online so I won't have to wash this one every day. A good, well-fitting bra is one of those things worth splurging on. But remember to wash it separately and line-dry it so it retains its shape and lasts a long time, making it well worth the money!
Another cool thing about Wacoal is that they donate $2 to Susan G. Komen for the Cure® for every Wacoal bra, shapewear piece or b.tempt'd bra purchased at their Fit for the Cure events. To find an event near you, go HERE.

I had heard that about women wearing the wrong size of bras...I probably do too! I would LOVE to win...bras are something I definitely do not splurge on. waldee at juno dot com.
ReplyDeleteYou are hilarious. Love this post!

ReplyDeleteWhoop! I wanna win! And I need to get measured again. After having baby 4, my boobs once again do not fit in my bras. Ugh.

I'm not sure if I have enough boobs left to qualify for a bra but what the heck ;)
ReplyDeletemckenzysmom @ yahoo . com
I'm a quadraboober! Doesn't seem to matter what size I buy, a little something extra spills out the top requiring me to always wear a tight tank over the bra and under my shirt. Good thing I live in a chilly state! Ugh.
ReplyDeletemsmak4@hotmail.com
I try to get fitted at least every 18 months. Makes all the difference! Am currently overdue for a visit patti.flesher@gmail.com

What a great giveaway. We moms never take time for ourselves or put ourselves first. I am definitely in need of some new bras.
ReplyDeletenclangs99 (at) yahoo (dot)com
I was WAY off when I had my first bra fitting. It's important to mention that when you have a baby, you have to be refitted because nursing changes things.. I'd love a good quality bra, they're hard to find in general, let alone afford one!
ReplyDeletejessileecarter@gmail.com
I'd love to win a bra. I had a breast reduction several years ago so I could wear "normal" sized bras and STILL have trouble finding one that fits! Chris

I definitely need a well-fitting bra! I still need to return one I got online because it is too big. I was trying to order online because the bra choices in my area are not very good for the "well-endowed!"
ReplyDeletemyrandaroyann[at]gmail[dot]com
I had a reduction when I was 20 and I know exactly what you mean by finding a perfect bra!
ReplyDeleteBuying a quality bra in the right size brought "them" UP from 40 years old to much closer to 30 :) Well worth the money!!

OH, I'm pretty sure I'm not wearing the correct size bra, but extended unemployment tends to create the need for cutbacks somewhere, and since food, housing & gas are more necessary than properly fitted bras, they came first. The fact that my girls sag has nothing to do with nursing babies or weight gain, it has everything to do with God giving me enough for about 3 people! A properly fitted, quality bra would be a blessing! rainertx (insert the appropriate punctuation mark) yahoo.com
ReplyDeleteFingers crossed! :)
ReplyDeleteMy poor daughter has a problem with the four boobs thingy. She is only 21 and it is so sad for me to see that and for her to be so insecure. I myself don't wear the right one either and just buy the cheapest I can get. Never been fitted in my life. These sound awesome and I may just have to try them. One amazing bra is better than 5 that really aren't that comfortable.
ReplyDeleteThanks for this,
Taunie
I totally would love a new bra. I'm all done nursing and I haven't been fitted in 3 years. I miss my nice fitting bras :-)

ReplyDeleteI would love a Wacoal bra. I have heard wonderful things about them!!
ReplyDeleteAccording to the bra lady at Bloomingdale's, I've been wearing bras that were too big for me. She convinced me to buy a smaller one; same thing, Dawn: I thought something was wrong 'cause they felt so tight! I still feel like it's not right, but it really does feel so much better than my old ones! I guess I have to get used to them being front and center again! krysjack (at) msn (dot) com
ReplyDeleteYup, I am definately in the wrong size. I would LOVE, LOVE, LOVE a well fitting bra.

I just went bra shoppnig a couple weeks ago cause I lost 30 pounds. And I swear I lost it all in my boobs and not in my stomach. It sucks. Still have a lot more to lose not to look pregnant (my kid is 6). :) I'd love a new bra....
ReplyDeleteOh wow... This just might be the incentive I need to actually get undressed in front of a young 20-something that has never been pregnant or breastfed 3 babies and get properly fitted... :-)

My teenage daughter's friend's mom had a bra party and I was so sad when I had to miss it. It was a HOOT. These girls were only about 14 and sorta embarrassed, with a bunch of middle age moms getting so excited about bras! I would love a good fitting bra. I actually have 4 bras in my closet right now that just don't fit and I haven't taken tags off of them.
ReplyDeleteI would love a new comfy bra! My last favorite (and comfy) bra was lost in the hospital.
ReplyDeletecinnes(at)cnr(dot)cdu
I need a new bra, hope I win this one.
ReplyDeleteI managed a lingere department for several years, and yes, most women wear the wrong size. Some are WAAAYY of. They were always amazed how much better they looked and how comfortable they felt when they found the right size. And Wacoal is a fabulous brand.
ReplyDeleteCheers.

I want to win. I was expecting not to see my size. I'm used to anything cute and affordable being too small. Either way, I think I'll check 'em out in the store.

Seriously... all bras are not created equal and it definitely makes a difference. Crossing my fingers that I am teh lucky winner- random generator pick me!
ReplyDeleteA new bra?! That would mean I could finally ditch the one I'm wearing now w/ the underwire digging into my armpit & missing two of the hooks? That would be freakin awesome!
ReplyDeletejunkyfrog@hotmail.com
I love good bras! I haven't had one in ages and ages, and the last one I bought has finally started acting like those saggy things you were talking about!
ReplyDeleteMy email is: mrobedeaux@yahoo.com
Thanks for the chance!
OMG! LOVE my Wacoal bra...being well-endowed myself I love how the underwire on the bras are low enough that they don't tear up my armpits and cause the bruising I was getting with other brands. :)
ReplyDeleteI have not gotten a new bra since I had my 3 kids. I know my size has probably changed. This would be a nice little surprise.
ReplyDeletendjohn7@yahoo.com

Oooohhh....I REALLY need a new bra. I have been wearing the one I've got on for a year and I bought it after I stopped nursing my son and and have lost 25 pounds but cannot afford a new one. So I'm super hot with my saggy quadriboobs.

Your disclaimer had me laughing (as did the rest of your post). My 16-year-old sister just went bra shopping with my 58-year-old mother a while back. My mom is well-endowed. My sister looks like she's eight. My sister was somewhat shell-shocked to learn my mom's bra size when she got re-fitted.

ReplyDeleteHey! DAWN!! I have noticed that your "contests", while very few, ALWAYS cater to the ladies. Either you give out shampoo, or MAXI-PADS.Once you had a give-a-way involving the airline industry..something with "WINGS"
ReplyDeleteI would just like to point out that your MALE readership has increased by leaps and bounds(most likely because I call up your website on the i Phone..show the guys YOUR come-hither photo..and basically skip over the part about your half dozen WILD and deadly offspring!)
SO? What are you going to do for us? Razor blades perhaps? After shave lotion? socks? Undies? Ah..here's a good one: TOOLS!!
I just felt so terribly let down when I spotted about 100 needy gals..all apparently a bit SAGGY in the chest department....and NUTHIN being offered for the gentlemen readers.
Work on THAT why doncha!!
It would be nice to have a new bra. Thanks for the giveaway!

Oh, Dawn. Please pick me. The bras I need are VERY pricey. Becasue there is A LOT of fabric. There are even more hooks on it than a professional fishing boat. BTW, your blog is the first thing I check in the morning and last thing I check before I turn my computer off at night. You have made me laugh, cry, and even pee my pants. I wish the best for you and your family. You're very pretty too and don't look a day over 25. I would come to your house and clean up puke for you any day.

I would like a good bra that fits right for special occasions. Right now I just always wear sports bras because they are comfy for my huge breasts but I am always walking around with a single boob. All my book squished into a nice pile in the middle of my chest. I know you mentioned the boob that spills out the top, but don't forget about the boob that spills out the side giving underarm boobs. My email if I win is felicitysmombecki at gmail dot com. I hope writing it that way prevents the spammers lol

I have no clue what I should be wearing now. I've gone from 36 almost A, to 40D, between 3 pregnancies/nursing and gaining weight. Back down to 36 something, but definitely not an A. B/C? Do they have a magic bra that will compensate for almost a full cup size difference between the 2 'boulders'?(my situation). I just wear sports bras most of the time now, since I don't fit right in anything else.

I remember going in for a professional fitting once and was surprised when they told me how off I was. And my new bra size definitely made a difference, although I sort of feel like my boobs are right under my chin now...but I supposed that is preferable to having them hang in my navel. lol
ReplyDeleteThe funny thing was that one of my friends told me afterward that she knew I was wearing the wrong bra size because my boobs "hung sorta low". Its like, "Umm and you never mentioned this before because...???" Although I suppose that is an awkward conversation: "Hi Beth, how are you today? By the way, your boobs are always hanging a bit low. Well see ya later!" ;)

Even after professional bra fittings, I have still not found a bra that I feel comfortable in, so I would love to try a new one that I have tried before. Being "well-endowed" (as you so nicely put it) to begin with, then breastfeeding 3 precious babies has made it very difficult to find something comfortable that actually does the job. vickibeasley at hotmail dot com.
ReplyDeleteWent from a DDD to a J when I had my first baby (imagine, 5'5", 130 lbs and a size J bra!) then thanks to a great surgeon down to a C...now I'm weaning my sixth child and need to find out what size I am so I can get back to caring how I look! Pick me!!
ReplyDeleteWhat a fabulous offer!
ReplyDeleteI'd love to win!

ReplyDeleteAfter five kids, I have no idea what bra size I wear. But I'm still a little embarrassed to go to a bra fitting. Perhaps I shouldn't be.

ReplyDeleteDawn, I have lost over 80 pounds and since I am replacing my ENTIRE wardrobe, I am prioritizing purchases....you know pants that stay on and whatnot...So, if you would please please let me win a bra that really fits so I can concentrate on important things like what people actually see, I will love you forever.
