I have much to tell about the Smart Choices program, but it'll have to wait a bit. I want to hang with my kiddies tonight. I miss them. I'll leave you with a few pictures though...
The black and white cookie. Look to the cookie!
Again, I'm
Times Square
Mmmmm chocolate
Times Square
Ummm, pardon me, Miss, but your bra strap is showing a little bit.
What do you think? Did this woman have an accident with a vehicle of some sort and get a wheel stuck around her waist? Or perhaps she's invented a personal space device to keep other weirdos at least a foot away. Perhaps it's the belt of the future? Must be fun going through revolving doors with that.
I started to take a picture of this woman's shiny silver pants, but then I noticed the seemingly dead animal hanging out of her purse.
Now that's my size coffee cup!
Although it's always a good idea to repent and be saved, I'm not sure about his "the apocalypse is coming next week" prediction.
I always thought the Statue of Liberty was little, um, bigger.
And finally, my room at Le Parker Meridien
We were in NY 2 weekends ago and saw many women with the bra strsp issue. What gives with that?
ReplyDeleteI stayed at the parker meridien for our honeymoon- it was nice. I hope you had a great time!
ReplyDeleteWhat no pictures of the Naked Cowbay??
ReplyDeleteHey Dawn - just an FYI - we call them 1/2 moons here in upstate NY...but maybe your already knew that :0)
ReplyDeleteMy ear was clogged a couple of months ago due to allergies. Went to the doctor and he told me to hold my nose, close my mouth and blow a few times a day. I was worried that my eardrum was going to explode but he told me it wouldn't. Not sure if this will help you but it worked for me. Hope you feel better!!
ReplyDeleteAs someone who is claustraphobic and agoraphobic (and hopefully I spelled those right), I would say that the tire thingy is most definitely for preservation of personal space. I need one of those!
ReplyDeleteFeel better! My daughter is just getting over a funky crud that made us question if she had measles or not. She didn't, but the rash that she had was nasty and measle-like. Hopefully you skip that part!
Oh that bed looks like heaven! and yeah, isn't NYC soooo smelly and dirty! Not like Chicago at all, but still, so much energy.
ReplyDeleteI hope you don't have an ear infection--the one I had about 3 weeks ago bled and I was MISERABLE, then the antibiotic made me barf. So, thinking good thoughts for you!
That was a fast trip huh?
My kids are back in school THIS WED. I am back on WW but would LOVE to meet for a WW friendly lunch sometime after your kids go back to school. And who knows, I'll probably be sick of WW by then anyway! miss ya !!!
Have fun with the kiddos! I'm sure they'll be happy to have you home.
ReplyDeleteAnd ohhh the Meridien. I love their hotels. It looks like you had fun. Great interesting people photos. There are definitely tons available in NYC.
BUT I think I could use one of those space creators :)
When I see someone's bra hanging out like that, I try to just be grateful that she's wearing a bra. I've seen so many women who needed bras but decided it was better to not wear them. C'mon pepple, I went through the trouble of putting on pants, why don't you put on bras?
ReplyDeleteTimes Square ain't nothing - mostly tourists and those of us working for their money. Try Greenwich Village. THAT'S fun. :D
ReplyDeleteOh My Gosh, Dawn!! You got to stay at the same place Rosie O'Donnell used to have her guests on her show stay.
ReplyDeleteDid you at least get to do a little bit of quik shopping?!
Love the bra picture...I just can't believe she thought she looked great walking out of her house. And you gave me a chuckle on the dead animal hanging out of the purse. And the ring around the ladies waist, "what up wid that?" And LOVE your room. It looks fabulous! Thanks for providing another evening of entertainment for me.
ReplyDeleteI think you HAVE to be different to survive in NYC! I enjoyed the photos!
ReplyDeleteIt was so much fun meeting you!!!! And your commentary on Times Square is AWESOME. :-)
ReplyDeleteYou've made me homesick! Thanks for capturing part of the heart of NYC! ;)
ReplyDeleteLooks like a nice and interesting trip, kind of a cultural experience, *lol*.
ReplyDeleteBtw., in German the black and white cookies are called "Amerikaner".
So long,
Corinna
You were spot on with the comment about it being a new personal space device. It appears that is really a piece of "funtional art" designed to ensure personal space! http://personalspaceprotection.blogspot.com/2009/07/welcome-to-freedom-personal-space.html
ReplyDeleteooooh, nice bed.
ReplyDeleteLOL, Dawn! The entire city is filled with weirdos, not just Times Square. Every train ride to and from work is filled with weird images or conversations:) I hope you had a great time in New York, and, weirdness aside, people were nice.
ReplyDeleteHaha! NYC looks way more interesting than I remember it from 1998! The woman with the "tire" - well I've come to the conclusion that she wears that so she can get through the crowds without anyone else invading her "personal space". It seems nice. I would so... not do it.
ReplyDeleteThe woman with the shiny pants, ohh the caption is hilarious and I'm sitting at work while I type this, a quiet office and strat laughing hysterically at "seemingly dead animal hanging from her purse"! Ahh as if the pants are tacky enough lets add a dead animal!!
Not only was that girl showing her bra, but also showing that it was an ill-fitting bra. Hopefully this picture will illustrate:

Forgive me if it doesn't.
For a simple home remedy, try a few drops of vinegar in your ear, let rest a few seconds, and then turn your head over so it can drip out. Repeat a couple times a day. It worked wonders for my daughter's ear infection! Nothing else did a thing, but in two days all was better.
ReplyDeleteYup..I too love the 1/2 moons. As far as the garbage... be glad you did not have to be in Toronto three weeks ago. The sanitation workers were on strike and garbage was falling out of the bins and it was smelly.
ReplyDeleteI just loved this! Thanks for the Seinfeld clip and all the great pics of the weirdness of the city. Haven't been back in way too long. This brought lots of good memories flooding back.
ReplyDeletePoor DAWN! That airplane trip sounds ominous..espcially with the extra feature(Swine Flu) I just wanted to comment on your hotel though...That place is SooooSnazzeh that even the bedbugs must wear tuxedos.
ReplyDeleteSeriously, I hope you will keep us advised about your "condition". It sounds like even using Hand Cleaning Gel would NOT have protected you from that nice lady's GERMS!
Is it still a bit early for us(your loyal followers) to start organizing Prayer Circles?
THIS is a good place to remind people "IF you are sick stay OFF airplanes, busses, trains etc." Just look how easy it is to infect 200 other innocents.
Looks like you had a great time, Dawn!
ReplyDeleteI have a SSO question, if you don't mind.. I know a lot of people don't believe in it, and I totally respect that- but out of my odd curiosity, what are your kids signs? So far as I can remember, you're a Pisces and Joe's a Scorpio, and I believe Austin was as well.. and Brooklyn an Aquarius if memory serves? But I don't remember mention of the rest of the kids birthdays at particular points. I don't necessarily believe astrology predicts things, I just find it really interesting in human relation and personality and as something to study and learn.
Thanks for putting up with goofy folks like me! :-)
That looks like a luxurious bed! As someone who's sleeping on an airbed because she won't splurge on a real bed, I'm jealous.

Wow, I want to sleep at that hotel, just not pay the fee. Last time I was in NYC, I paid $70 to sleep in a crummy hostel :(
ReplyDeleteNice room. When did the statue of liberty start wearing shades?
ReplyDeleteThat bra pic is so fabulous and classic. I just wish someone took a picture of you taking the picture. Was your bra showing? Because that would have been even cooler.
ReplyDeleteLOL! I'm so happy that there is someone else crazy er, I mean a funny Seinfeld fan who takes pictures of the b/w cookie while in NY!! I was there 7 yrs ago and did the exact same thing!! The lady I was staying with thought I was crazy... perhaps?? Nah! Glad you're having a great time!
ReplyDeletePoor you - sitting in a non-moving airplane for hours. Had a similar experience but with a/c switched off some years ago and when we finally took off and a/c worked again, everyone was sneezing. We then spent most of our vacation in drugstores and pharmacies.
ReplyDeleteRegarding your ear - it must not be an infection of the ear, but can be caused by a normal cold. As ear canal and sinus are connected somehow, a swolen sinus can impact hearing. My cure: flush your sinuses twice daily with a salt water solution. It takes out all the dirt and makes your nose free. Also reduces the swelling of the mucous membrane of the nose and disinfects everything up there. Highly recommended.
I'm about to fly with my nine week old. Any advice????

I've never been to NY before. Now I CAN'T WAIT! LOL!
ReplyDeleteVery funny - I saw the same Lady Liberty!!
ReplyDeleteLove,

Oh I've been stuck on the tarmac for 4 hours. It's definitely not fun! Although you had a rough start to your trip (78 sneezes? Yuck!), it looks like you had a great time :)
ReplyDeleteI just rolled on the floor when I saw that bra strap thing, and the wheel, I have personal space issues in crowds and it looks like a possible idea! joking!
ReplyDeleteHalf moons in upstate, black and whites in NJ -- the icing's different and so is the cookie. But it's all good.
ReplyDeleteMy husband and I went to NYC last night and spend some time in Times Square. Sadly, I did not see any "get out of my personal space" waistbands, no dead animals hanging out of purses, and no naked cowboy. Of course, that might have been because I wasn't there with you--I was with my husband, whose main attitude about Times Square is "Get me out of here!"
ReplyDeleteI have never been to NY. I am sure I will someday but honestly...now I am afraid! LOL
