I know I haven't updated for days. I have a good excuse. I'm dying of a stuffy nose. Really, I can't hear out of my left ear, my nose is congested, it feels like my face is going to explode, and I've lost my voice. I've been using the neti-pot 50 times a day just so I can breathe. Yes, yes, I know the snot pot is kinda gross, but cold medicine makes my heart race like crazy. Decongestants, antihistimes, anything. They make me feel worse than the cold symptoms I had to begin with.
Anyway, I'm trying to enjoy these last few days until the kids go back to school. My cold has kinda put a damper on that though. Last minute supply shopping, a couple last trips to the pool, and the last few days of sleeping in a bit are on my agenda for this weekend.
Lexi has started cheerleading. I'm not a football fan. I find myself glancing over at the baseball field longingly, wishing that she could cheer for baseball games. I'm not a fan of cold weather. I'm already havng to bring a sweatshirt to her practices. I'm also not a fan of watching my daughter fly through the air. (I still have some medical bills to pay off before my next ER visit!) I find myself closing my eyes when she's being held in the air. I don't know how I'll handle this.
I LOVE this picure. It does look like she is preparing the super woman jump/stage dive right into thearms of the ER doctor. And I notice the girl on the left has just returned from her cheery visit to the good ol' ER.
ReplyDeleteFatten her up a bit than she can be the thrower and not the throwee !-)
ReplyDeleteHi,
ReplyDeleteIv'e seen a comment on your post about your trip to NYC that might help with your Nose. It was something like flushing it with a mild saltwater solution.
Give it a try - it works really well (also for people affected by allergies like hayfever)
I'm so sorry that you're still not feeling well. Wish I could send you some warm chicken soup!
ReplyDeleteI have seven children (six here and one in Heaven) and I sympathize with you...there isn't a convenient time to be sick, especially at the end of the summer when we are trying to "wrap" things up from the summer and get things started for school!
ReplyDeleteI hope that you will be feeling better really soon. I enjoy your humor. You give me the comic relief I sometimes need at the end of the day :)
With hope,
Cheryl
:-( Feel better soon!
ReplyDeleteThe only thing that used to work for me when I had a cold was either Dayquil or Nyquil. But I went to the dr and she noticed that my blood pressure was up so she recommended Coricidin HBP, for people with high blood pressure. And it works! It comes in pill form or in liquid form (like Nyquil for nighttime).
ReplyDeleteYou might want to try it. (And I admit, pills to cure a cough??? But they work!)
Hope you're feeling better soon to enjoy those last few days of summer.
ReplyDeleteLexie is adorable and brave to be the one being held. All you have to do is BREATHE.
You'll get through it like you usually do - with love and laughter! Yay for Lexi to be a cheerleader!
ReplyDeleteI can not take any cold medicines either. It feels like my gizards are vibrating and I am wired all night long (almost like a 6 hour long panik attack). The only thing I can take is Mucinex PE (for sinus congestion). It does not make me vibrate and loosens all the nastyness up so I can blow, cough, hack it up. It does not dry it out and is not a quick fix but man, it sure gets rid of it! Oh, and the sinus headaches are A LOT better after the medicine starts working. The pressure is not as bad once everything starts loosening up.
ReplyDeleteA good coach will minimize the injuries. When I was in the highschool, the only accidents the girls had were outside the practice. Like tripping and falling down a set of stairs.
ReplyDeleteFeel better!

Have you tried Vicks vapor rub?, it helps mostly with colds in your chest but it helps me to breathe in my nose also. If you don't want to rub is all over I sometimes put it in a pot of boiling water and use a towel over your head and breath in the steam, like a mini sauna, but for your ears, I don't know the only thing that helps me is sudphed and yes it makes my heart more rapid too, but I can't stand it when my ear is hurting, stuffed up or ringing.
ReplyDeleteHmmm, don't want to freak out the sick Mom but as an old cheer coach I have to say those 2 people should not be basing together. They have 2 totally different heights forcing one to compensate for the other. Not something I would recommend for safe building. And tell Lexi to tuck her butt in and pull in with her thighs - she'll feel much more in control:)
ReplyDeleteHave your thyroid levels checked. My heart races terribly when my thyroid levels are not balanced.
ReplyDeleteHee-hee!
ReplyDeleteLexi is adorable! You go, girl!
ReplyDeleteHope you are feeling better by the time school starts!
I'm sorry you're feeling poorly. It looks like you already have had a lot of get well soon ideas. But, one I haven't seen is a Chiropractor. You need to get an adjustment. My husband is a Chiropractor here in Dallas, TX. He has been know to adjust someone's sinuses and ears when they are sick allowing the congestion to drain. I know you would feel a million times better and get well faster if you got an appointment with your Chiropractor. Hope you feel better soon!!
ReplyDeleteI'm so sorry you are sick. Summer colds are the worst. Every time you cringe at Lexi's aerial antics just be glad that's the kind of "high" she's striving for. God bless your entire family and keep you well and safe.
ReplyDeletePS - as to the silver wheel hub ob=n the New Yorker - my first thought was a personal space device. It would be fun to find her in 3 months and see if she's had a cold or the flu. Who knows, it could become the trend of tomorrow! Hang in there and get well. Cause Mama said so! ;)
