It's Alive!

This walked out from under my couch. I think it may be alive. Beware folks. It starts off innocently enough at first - a waffle left lying on the bookshelf, fries on the floor of your car, a rotten banana peel in a sock drawer, a slice of pizza in your son's safe, a moldy sandwich in your son's bed, spoiled chocolate milk in that same son's backpack. But soon you start finding stuff under the couch, on the ceiling fan, hiding in your bed, sleeping in the washing machine, marching across the tv. In no time your house is invaded with moldy, rotten food.

Any guesses as to it is was? The first person to guess correctly will win two Anita Renfroe DVDs: It's Probably Just my Thyroid, and William Tell Momisms, compliments of Luvs. I'll announce the winner on Thursday, September 4th.

  1. I'm guessing partially eaten plum with pit intact.

  2. That is a tough one! I've never looked at moldy food so close in my life. I really have no idea but since it has pink parts I'm going to go with a piece of watermelon.

    ReplyDelete
  3. I can't even fathom what that was in it's previous life. Ick! My son found an old sippy cup yesterday and was drinking the "contents". The black strongly resembles this thing here.

    ReplyDelete
  4. My guess is a grape. I want to say raisin, but I'm guessing it entered your house as a grape.

    ReplyDelete
  5. I believe it is a piece of steak.

    ReplyDelete
  6. Totally a strawberry or fruit core.

    ReplyDelete
  7. I'm going to guess a peach or something similar, barely eaten so there's a lot left to get moldy.

Otherwise, I'd have said dracula's heart was left under the couch too long.

    ReplyDelete
  8. I'm guessing either a peach or plum pit

    ReplyDelete
  9. I think it's a raisin. Well...it was a raisin!

    ReplyDelete
  10. A wad of bubble gum. I think my collection of chewing gum looked like that when I was a child : )

    ReplyDelete
  11. Strawberry maybe? Its gross whatever it is! LOL! Did it grow legs yet?

    ReplyDelete
  12. Is it smaller than a breadbox? Is that a mouth? It is so hard when you don't know what size it is. It could be a grape or a prune.

Found my way here by way of Rick, who left a comment on my blog. Not sure where Rick comes from but I will be checking out his blog more since finding stuff like this through him. Love your blog so far!

  35. That certainly is a scary sight! I'd have to guess a blob of chewing gum (Bubble Yum?) or perhaps a chewed-but-not-swallowed glob of Fruit Rollup.

Believe it or not, my HUSBAND is a bigger culprit than my children at abandoning food.

    ReplyDelete
  36. This looks oddly familiar. I'm going to guess that it is a peice of watermelon the innocent children of your life have left for you to discover as their latest scientific experiment.

    ReplyDelete
  37. Is it, I mean, was it at one time a strawberry?

    ReplyDelete
  38. It looks like it was red at one time. I will guess a dog treat. It kinda looks like meat.

I was just cleaning under my couch this morning too! First day of school and all... you know. Part of a mom wants to just go through the whole house and just start cleansing it of everything (that is, if they are all off to school).

Naw, I'll just clean when I have to. It's better that a mom knows just enough, but not too much!

    ReplyDelete

Ok, so my husband thinks it's some kind of meat, my first thought was fruit, strawberry perhaps. But as he said, fruit would have more grey fuzz on it. So we're going with meat! COngrats to the winner!

    ReplyDelete

    ReplyDelete
  79. A peach? I looks like it absolutely has to be some kind of fruit to be so "fleshy" looking. I have a very strong stomach...I can't handle staring at it. If you can't handle puke I'm not sure how you cleaned this up.

    ReplyDelete
  80. It actually looks like a rotten giant's tooth, but my 2nd, more logical guess would be broccoli???

    ReplyDelete

  87. Hi Dawn!
I'm guessing it's a small piece of berry or cherry pie or tart with a tiny bit of white icing and lots of black mold.

    ReplyDelete
  88. As the mother of two little food hoarders and connoisseur of all things moldy I would have to take a stab that this here fine specimen used to be a grape.

    ReplyDelete
  89. That looks horribly like a day-old chick that's had its head ripped off! Yuck!!! OK, I have a lot off poultry and that quote about "Nature, red in tooth and claw" applies to birds too - I've seen some messy sights so obviously my perspective is skewed, and I am sure this odd object is something far less gruesome!
