My Poor Camera

My camera broke. I LOVE my camera! It's a Sony CyberShot and it has an amazing zoom and it takes good pictures and it's broken. <--- to get the real effect, you have to read that last sentence while sobbing to the point that snot drips down your face. The little button you depress to take the picture has broken off. :( At least it lasted while I was in San Francisco, but no more pictures from me until I can figure out how to get it fixed. I think it may still be under warranty. :::crossing my fingers:::

Still, I don't know what I'll do if I have to be cameraless while it gets fixed. I was going to go to Millennium Park this week. Can I go someplace like that without a camera? I'm pretty sure there's a rule against it. I'm having a panic attack just thinking of being without a camera for weeks.

  1. i have a sony cyber shot, just got it actually after having a canon for many years. i LOVE it because of all the extra features it has. i hope you can get it fixed. i had something similar to happen to me a week ago because seriously, how does the picture button fall off a camera. i was looking at my watch and noticed the time had stopped, then i noticed something look weird about it. well, i look closer and the 12 had fallen out of place and was floating around inside the watch. i mean seriously, how does a 12 fall off a watch?! even though it was bought with a lifetime warrenty fossil wouldn't fix it without a receipt (who keeps a receipt from a watch from 7 years ago?). so i said screw fossil, i'm buying a citizen and it's got "ecodrive" so i never have to buy a watch battery again since it's powered by light!

  2. I can so sympathize with you! My blog has been pictureless for weeks now and my life has been completely altered because my camera died on me. It is in Melville, NY right now being fixed by the nice Nikon people. I seriously considered duct taping my children to the couch so that they couldn't do anything new or fun until I got my camera back. Thankfully my grandparent's offered me the use of their camera until mine is safely returned to me. It's just not the same. Good luck with the warranty.

  3. Yes, it's possible to go someplace like that without a camera. The secret is to forget to take it. I just did this on a mini vacation with my hubby to a very romantic place on the lake and pinched myself every 2 minutes cause I'd forgotten my camera. So, just "forget" to take it, then when you're about to pinch yourself remember that it's broken and wouldn't have done you any good anyway, and you'll come away with fewer pinch-bruises than I did. :-)

Hope ya can get it fixed! I love my Sony Cybershot with 12x zoom!!!!

I hope you can get yours fixed though.

  5. You might as well get used to it, girlfriend. When your kids are teens, they will hijack the camera forever. If you buy a replacement, they'll hijack that one, too. I hope your cell phone has a camera function.

  7. That exact same thing happened to my camera! A child helped, but I'm living off a borrowed one for now. Last time I had a camera fixed, it was in the shop for 2 months!!! I sincerely hope it doesn't take that long. It was fun reading about the conference and all! I found out about Coleman Saturday am and couldn't stop crying all morning. They are definitely in my prayers and our family is going to fast for him and his family the next 2 Sundays.

  8. If a tree falls in a forest and you don't come away with photographs of the tree falling, the stump and a couple of artsy shots of leaf piles, did it really fall? It might just as well have remained standing, given that your children won't remember it without photographic proof anyway.

  9. Why not buy a disposable? You can get those put on a cd now when it's developed.

  10. Dawn:

You MUST have another camera!? Don't all camera-crazy people have at least 2, if not 3, cameras? Everyone in my family does! I have my little Nikon that travels so well, my bigger Nikon with 8x zoom, and my Nikon SLR.

Looks like a good excuse to buy another camera!!

  11. My Sony just broke too. That stupid button fell off and I was told it will be $250 to fix!!!! I can sort of take pictures with a paperclip, but it's just not the same. Next time I'm getting the extended warranty.

I feel like I'm missing an arm because I don't have the camera with me. At least it didn't break until my last day (of 2 weeks) in Italy.

  12. Ugh, my cybershot has been broken since my sons bday in march. Guess how many disposable cameras I have to take to Wallys world to get developed!? The pics aren't that bad either from those things. We paid 600 and some for our cybershot 5 yrs ago, now you can get a decent one for around 100, we might just do that and if the other one can be fixed then we have 2! Good luck with yours, I can't imagine you having a blog without pics!!

  13. Ugh! Well, I would probably pick up another camera. LOL Hmmm - your ebay auctions should be enough to justify that, right?

  14. I can understand!!! Both my teen girls heve digital cameras so they don't bug me anymore since my last two broke (not by me..I think). Well my one daughte said her camera is not working and she does not know why.. it's the camera's fault. So, she took mine to take pix of herself, friends and bf. The next night we go to a huge dance festival with over 3,000 youth and 3 of our kids are in this once in a life time show! Husband gets there hours early to get a good seat. I'm happy everything charged. Pull out the camera and it's broke! What the heck, We are sitting next to a friend from HS we have not seen in years, my kids are in the show. I am a freak about taking pix. I can't go anywhere with out my camera. My daughter wants a new camera for her b-day. I think her new one should go to mom (me) and she can have mine.. the one she broke. Hope your trip went well. I always rely on those wonderful disposable cameras. :)
