Congrats! I can't wait. Since you are such a fan of FL and our soft white sand beaches, I think you should make my hometown a stop on your book tour :)
Dawn, I am unbelievably thrilled for you. And your story is very encouraging to me... if a stay at home mom of 6 can find the time to write and publish a book, then surely I, a childless bachelor, should really have to trouble, either. See? You are an inspiration to everyone.
I really love the general layout of the cover, the colors and designs and all...buuuut I don't think they should use that one little boy (not that he's not adorable) I just think they should use a maybe cartoon setting of six kids and a mom. Or even real pics of you and your kids, like the beautiful one ya'll took with the white backround! Do you have any say in that? Or is this the final choice?
HOW.FRIEKING.AWESOME. You go Dawn! I'm so proud of you. We ALL are I'm sure. We finally get to have our very own "Because I Said So" right here at home (autographed please!!!)
So happy for you!!! ~ And not that i want to say anything negative at such a great moment for you, but if you do still have a say so, I agree with everybody else. Your own kids, 1 or all would be a better cover imho. Either way, it'll be in my purse for me to read!!! Soooooo looking forward to it!
Everyone who wants your kids on the cover has obviously never taken 6 kids to get their pictures taken together. Congratulations!!!!! And catching up on the last week or so of posts cause I was so busy not going to Oprah :), that sounded like a wonderfully fun time. And the disappearing kid act? So been there done that, more than once, coulda told you it would happen.
DAWN!!!! YOU ROCK!!!!! How great is that cover?! Yay, you! And thanks for the Oprah update. I am so sorry you guys weren't pulled out of the crowd! Maybe you would have been, if you had on those nice tea cup heels!
That's so exciting! But what's with the random little kids on the cover? (I know you probably had nothing to do with that decision, soI'm not criticizing you!)
Go Dawn! Go, go, go Dawn!! :) (Little virtual happy dance for you!) I agree with other commenters that one (or all) of the Meehan kids would have been a cuter cover, but I love the rest of it--esp. the ": )" (turn your head to the right to read that part). Congratulations and thanks for sharing with us! ;)
Dawn, Who would have thunk it! What an awesome journey for you! And we all are lucky enough to follow along with you. I can't wait to get the book! I love the colors, but they should use your kids!!!!
WOOOOHOOOOO Dawn! You go girl! I hope you'll have a book signing in the Chicago area (since that's where I am) but I've pre-ordered your book on Amazon in the meantime. Congratulations!
Hi Dawn, The book looks Great! Congrats! Ok now for what we all want to know....What is with the word- Twitter? My imagination is wandering! Kristine in Michigan.
I don't think there should be a picture of an actual real life child on the cover at all. A picture of your kids would be too personal, and a photo of someone else's kid just doesn't make sense. I agree that it should be a drawing instead. (Did you hear that, publishing company?)
Congratulations! I can't wait to purchase the book. I agree with the others. I would love to see you and your family on the cover. I like the idea of using a hand drawn picture, even a caricature. But however it's published, I'm sure we'll love it.
That's so exciting! I signed up to get notices on it ;). I can't wait to see it! Congrats lady. All the hard work paid off(as did poppin' out all of those kiddos lol).
I just preordered on Amazon and I can't wait to get your book! I'm already thinking the book is going to be a great gift for a few folks too! Congrats!! Way to GO!!! I"m soo excited for you!!!
Hey Dawn! I don't write often but I wanted to congratulate you on the book! I have to agree with everyone else though about the cover. It really doesn't reflect the craziness and fun that keeps us so interested! People who haven't heard of you or read your blog will totally not get what the book is about. That kid needs a purple juice mouth, oatmeal in his hair and scissors in his hand! LOL
Wow, can you believe it??? I'd be pinching myself every couple minutes or so - all bruised up and still loopy. You and your family deserve every bit of it!!! BUT I think they should have used Rick's drawing from your blog as the cover...that, in my opinion...is perfect. I still love it and I'm pre-ordering as soon as possible.
will you please check this stuff from me? Its about education, and how education should be (if I ever decided to marry and have child) http://designinglifenhappenings.blogspot.com/2008/04/socratic-method-montessori-schooling.html

ReplyDeleteI love it! I can't wait to buy it. You're my inspiration!
ReplyDeleteWas it easier to have a professional child model feature on the front cover rather than choose 1 of your 6? ;)
ReplyDeleteCongrats! Can't wait to pick it up! Is that one of your little dudes on the cover?
ReplyDeleteWOW!!! What a great looking cover!!! I can't wait to buy it!!!

ReplyDeleteLooking forward to reading the book!
That pic of Brooklyn on the right would have made a perfect cover!
ReplyDeleteWay to go! Congrats on this momentous event!
ReplyDeleteAnd who would've thought that pack of Pokemon cards would result in all this!
Emma in Australia
Congratulations! And to think we knew you when.
ReplyDeleteLove the cover! Congratulations!
ReplyDeleteI agree with an earlier commenter - that chocolate covered picture of Brooklyn would have made a perfect cover!
ReplyDeleteWOW! Congrats! I can't wait to read it! Good job! Woo Hoo!
ReplyDeleteIt's cute but it should have one of your kids on it!
ReplyDeleteLOVE the cover. Can't wait to have (a signed) one on my shelf.
ReplyDeleteput a little plug in my blog for ya! I know I don't have too many readers but every bit helps, right!?
ReplyDeletehttp://lisanoel03.blogspot.com/
Woohoo! Congratulations! The book is so professional looking! You really deserve this!
ReplyDeleteI really love the general layout of the cover, the colors and designs and all...buuuut I don't think they should use that one little boy (not that he's not adorable) I just think they should use a maybe cartoon setting of six kids and a mom. ReplyDeleteDo you have any say in that? Or is this the final choice?
Haha, awesome Dawn! Congratulations. =)

ReplyDeleteCongratulations to you! I can't wait until it comes out!!!

ReplyDeleteI can't wait to get mine...I might just take Amazon up on the pre-order idea....I want to be sure and get one!
Congrats!!!!!
HOW.FRIEKING.AWESOME.
ReplyDeleteYou go Dawn! I'm so proud of you. We ALL are I'm sure. We finally get to have our very own "Because I Said So" right here at home (autographed please!!!)

YAY DAWN!!! I'm so excited! WOO HOO!!! Can't wait to get a copy!
ReplyDeleteTams
If all of your readers buy a copy--it would be on the bestsellers list in no time. Count me in!!!!
ReplyDeleteOh how cute! Love the cover. Can't wait to get a copy for myself and my two girlfriends. YAY! Congrats Dawn.
ReplyDeleteSomeday I hope to see my byline on the front cover of a book! You must be so, so, so excited! It looks great. Congratulations!
ReplyDeleteFantastic Dawn, I have goosebumps. I agree though a chocolate covered Brooklyn would have made a GREAT cover LOL
ReplyDeleteFab cover!!!! it looks sooooo good!!!
ReplyDeleteEveryone who wants your kids on the cover has obviously never taken 6 kids to get their pictures taken together. Congratulations!!!!! And catching up on the last week or so of posts cause I was so busy not going to Oprah :), that sounded like a wonderfully fun time. And the disappearing kid act? ReplyDeleteSara, Michigan
Oh I love it! I can't wait for it too come out! August?
ReplyDeleteThat's so exciting! But what's with the random little kids on the cover? (I know you probably had nothing to do with that decision, soI'm not criticizing you!)

ReplyDeleteI AM COMPLETELY MIFFED!!!!!!

I like the Chocolate Covered Brooklyn pic also. But you can't have just one kid on the cover. The other 5 would have hissy fits!
ReplyDeletedawn/Michigan
YAY!!! I cant wait to read it! I do agree that using one of your adorable kids on the cover would have been fun.
ReplyDeleteGo Dawn! Go, go, go Dawn!! :) (Little virtual happy dance for you!) ReplyDeleteCongratulations to you. That is an amazing accomplishment! :)
Congratulations Dawn! How totally exciting for you!!!!! Thanks for keeping us all laughing :-)
ReplyDeleteDawn, I am thrilled for you! Congratulations Girl!
ReplyDeleteWhy didn't they put a picture of your 6 kids on the cover? Or even your drawing from your blog?
The picture of the one little perfect looking boy doesn't represent you....or your story.
Regardless, I will be buying the book the day it comes out....I am so happy for you!!!!
How exciting to see it and know it's real!
ReplyDeleteI don't think there should be a picture of an actual real life child on the cover at all. A picture of your kids would be too personal, and a photo of someone else's kid just doesn't make sense. I agree that it should be a drawing instead. (Did you hear that, publishing company?)
Just fyi, when I try to click on "old stuff" a link to bijou and company opens up.
ReplyDeleteCongrats on your book, I'm looking forward to reading it. Do you think it will be in the library?
Sorry that I missed the cover of the book premier. It looks good. But, could they have not used one of your own children?
ReplyDeleteI'm ordering one for myself and one for the library! Go Girl!
ReplyDeleteKendra
Congratulations! I can't wait to purchase the book. I agree with the others. I would love to see you and your family on the cover. I like the idea of using a hand drawn picture, even a caricature. But however it's published, I'm sure we'll love it.

People who haven't heard of you or read your blog will totally not get what the book is about. That kid needs a purple juice mouth, oatmeal in his hair and scissors in his hand! LOL
I remember the post about the roses and the book deal. It has been a fun ride!
ReplyDeleteCongratulations!!!
TO think this all started with a small pack of pokemon cards... *sigh*
ReplyDeleteI can't wait to read the book, and I hope that you continue your own unique, funny style of writing throughout the whole thing!
SSO: Will you continue to write in your blog, and will you write another book?
~Jenny
Wow, can you believe it??? I'd be pinching myself every couple minutes or so - all bruised up and still loopy. You and your family deserve every bit of it!!! BUT I think they should have used Rick's drawing from your blog as the cover...that, in my opinion...is perfect. I still love it and I'm pre-ordering as soon as possible.
ReplyDeleteHow exciting for you. Have I missed it or has anyone approached you to be syndicated in a newspaper?
ReplyDeleteCan't wait to get my hands on this book!
ReplyDeleteMazel tov, as we say in my faith!
ReplyDelete:-D
BHG
Lovely cover! I'm excited for you. Best of luck with book sales!
ReplyDeleteOK!
ReplyDeleteLove the cover but I would have to honestly say...I think a civer with tantrum-queen Brooklyn would sell more copies...
something about having the author's child on the cover makes the stories inside more REAL!!!
:)
wow!
ReplyDeleteNow that is awesome and inspiring.
