Speaking of the commercials, I met Molly and Claudia from the Sonic commercials last night at the Algonquin Sonic. I think I'm going to have to make my own Sonic commercial. I can sit in a car while drinking some Sonic goodness and chatting! Why not?!

Yes, we're wearing jackets in June. It was only 55 degrees yesterday evening. (What is the deal with my hair??? I have wings! Ugh)
So, we got to Sonic and enjoyed our yummilicious dinner. I had a grilled chicken wrap and a diet cherry limeade because I was trying to be good. You know, since I tried on my shorts from last summer and they didn't so much fit. With any luck, the temps will stay under 60 degrees and I'll never have to put them on. :::sigh:::
Anyway, we enjoyed our dinners. Well, I'm guessing Austin and Savannah enjoyed theirs, but I'm not sure since they sat at their own "too cool to sit with anyone else" table and ate while Savannah played with her iPod and Austin read Harry Potter for the 80th time.
Meanwhile, Lexi, Brooklyn and Clay did the limbo under the menu board until Lexi forgot to duck and smacked her head. A free root beer float made it all better though. :) Thank you Anita and gang for the invite, the delicious Sonic yumminess, and all the Sonic goodies!
I couldn't find my camera when it was time to leave, and I only had the stinky camera on my phone. (BTW, when we got home, I found my camera in the bag where it's supposed to be. What idiot put it there?!!!)
Know what I just realized? That picture of Austin to the left there was taken at Sonic! Notice the blue coconut slushie tongue! LOL!

I wonder why they invited you there on customer appreciation night? The one by my house was CRAZY with people lined up to get their free little root beer float. SO not worth the chaos for me! But I do LOVE their happy hour every day when drinks are 1/2 price!
ReplyDeleteConcerning the shorts.... I've been telling everyone I had to get new ones this year, because my old ones SHRUNK!!! :)
ReplyDeleteI live in San Diego and we have also had commercials for years with no Sonic in sight....well I just found out they are putting in a Sonic not too far from my house. I haven't been this excited in a long time. I can't wait to get a yummy slushy drink!! By the way...I have only been to Sonic once in Texas...that is all it took!
ReplyDeleteDang, there's no Sonic by me...I wanna try one of those cherry limeade things!
ReplyDeleteThey just built one in my area. I must get over to it.
ReplyDeleteGreat pictures wish my phones camera took pictures that came out like these.
ReplyDeleteAm so jealous! We have no sonic in Canada and none anywhere close to the border...I'm tempted to drive the 5 hours to somewhere in Ohio where there is one...and I LOVE the cherry limeade too...whenever we're in Florida I sent my huz out and he brings home like 5 flavours of drinks
ReplyDeleteWait wait wait... you mean MY Sonic (hey, technically it's closer to me than you) has seating? I don't have to sit in my car and have food spill everywhere? Huh. I wonder if I can justify heading there after Field Days today....
ReplyDeleteAnd personally, I like the wings :)
My family LOVES Sonic! I didn't realize there was one in Algonquin!!! Sonic here we come. My grandma lives in Atlanta and when we visit we go for the happy hour every day. Yum. Thanks for sharing the algonquin location. My waistline does not thank you but my 4 girls definitely thank you.
ReplyDeleteSonic finally found it's way to our nook of the world, too. It's still an hour away, but not so far as to enjoy a slushie every now and then. Sonic rocks.
ReplyDeleteI heart Sonic, especially the blue coconut slushy and the onion rings. I've never understood the motto "America's favorite Drive-in" though, because I know they're not all over the country yet. We have 3 I think in this small southern town - not to rub it in or anything.
ReplyDeleteWe don't have Dairy Queen though (not even in Memphis!!), yet we get their commercials all the time! Such a tease.
I so wish there was a Sonic close by to us! Their drinks sound really good.
ReplyDeleteWe love Sonic too. Every day is happy hour from 2-4; half price drinks and slushies. The other night was free 10 oz root beer float night, but we missed it. :(
ReplyDeleteWhat...no tots? Their tater tots rock!!
ReplyDeleteThose Sonic commercials are sometimes funny, sometimes down right stupid, but the food is all yummy goodness. Now you've made me want a diet cherry limeaide!
ReplyDeleteok Sonic people..you obviously read Dawn's blog..COME TO CANADA..PLEEEEEEEASE??!!!! I NEED you!
ReplyDeleteI LOVE LOVE LOVE Sonic! And the bad news is that there aren't any close by where I live. But the good news is that I am taking a vacation tomorrow to somewhere there is one. YIPEE! Chocolate cream pie shake and Strawberry cream slush here I come.
ReplyDeleteOh how I adore Sonic. Growing up I went there all the time, then when I was 16 we moved to a state that didn't have one. *gasp*
ReplyDeleteI would always go back to Kansas and get Sonic every time (onion rings and vanilla dr. pepper are my favorites). Now we have it here and I go there WAY too often.
That is great that they invited you all for dinner. They pretty much rock my socks.
I love Sonic, but don't have any where I now live (Tampa area, FL). When I was in VA I'd stop in way too often on the way home from work and get their cookie dough shakes. I delivered pizzas for Papa John's for a year and the workers would pray for a delivery in the area of a Sonic and give their orders and money to the drivers when they got a run in that direction.
ReplyDeleteI took the Mommy style quiz, and found out I'm still a Sgt. Mom. And here, I thought I'd mellowed some. I guess it shows to go ya' that some things just don't change. Maybe that's why I admire your parenting style, Dawn - because deep down I know I could never let my kids do some of the things you allow, even though I want to be that Mom that lets them explore more. Now they're grown and there's no "letting" - they are adults and make their own choices. They ask for advice on occasion and usually do what works best for them. Anyhoo - keep up the good work! They'll grow up sooner than you think no matter what you do.
PS - I was amazed at how much alike each of your children looked at that same stage as babies. That was nifty. Thanks for sharing.
I'm a huge fan of Sonic. I usually get the diet cherry coke with the coney dog meal. *Drools* When I'm feeling extra feisty I add a watermelon slushie to that.
ReplyDeleteI was too scared to venture out on free root beer float night. I imagine my Sonic was PACKED because free anything excites the people of Wyoming.
You are one lucky lady...a personal invite to Sonic! = )
ReplyDeleteThe ones anywhere near us all went bankrupt (not due to our attendance, which was completely stellar)!
ReplyDeleteGlad you could enjoy you yumminess. I was with you in spirit.
I am soooo craving one of their sunshine something-or-others...yummmm
Love the diet coke with vanilla. Food is all greasy! Ick!
ReplyDeleteI adore Sonic too. I got hooked on them when we lived in Louisiana. I actually made my husband drive over an hour out of our way when we were up in Pennsylvania to hit a Sonic up there. They are sooo yummy. I love, love, love their tater tots. Why don't any other fast food places do tots? They are scrumptious. I am very excited because the rumors in our small Maryland town that we were getting a Sonic have been confirmed with a sign in front of the location. No idea how long it will take but I cannot wait!
ReplyDeleteI love Sonic. I get their lime, lemon-berry, or strawberry fresh fruit slush everytime I go there. and mozz sticks and maybe a corndog... :) We always enjoy sonic commercials...lucky you got to meet the funny girls!! My husband and I love the latest commercial with the 2 guys... "it's not dark enough for us!!" :) ~ Becky
ReplyDeleteI was very excited to go to Barnes and Nobles an hour and a half away to get a copy of your book! But when I got there, they didn't have it. :o( I was pretty bummed. Then my sister found it! She bought it for me! Yay!!! She, of course, read it before she gave it to me and said that she realizes now why I read your blog cuz you are hilarious! So, I just got started on it last night and I figured I will have it done by the end of today! Thanks for the laughs!!
ReplyDeleteI had to laugh with you on the wings, my hair does that the moment it starts to get too long as well. And today I had to turn on my heater. Where did summer go???? Sob!
ReplyDeletenot to rub it in but I have been enjoying sonic for more than 20 years!!! We had one just about a mile away from my house. Love those cherry limeaide slushes. Glad you finally got in on the sonic love.
ReplyDeleteOMG!! Sonic too tormented me!!! They are truly evil. Okay not evil but bad!!!
ReplyDeleteI got hooked when I went to Mississippi 5 years ago. So CRUEL!! They finally put one by us about 2 years ago. It is about 15 miles away but hey...IT'S SONIC!!!! I can't believe you go to meet the gals from the commercial!! They are HILARIOUS!!!
What fun. Enjoy!!!

My daughter loves Sonic and really - so does the whole family! We too have been tortured by the Sonic commercials, but, didn't have one local/convenient to us in NH. When we planned a trip to Florida to visit her grandparents and made our "to-do list", my daughter included a visit to the local Sonic. Ooohhh the yummy goodness! :)
ReplyDeleteMy son has been watching Sonic commercials on TV for years and begging to go to one (the nearest one is about 2 hours away). Finally, two weeks ago we planned a strawberry picking trip 'out in the country' and surprised him and his sister with a side trip to Sonic (after the berry picking, 'course). It's truly addictive!
ReplyDeleteHey, did you say Algonquin? I grew up in Cary....but that was way before Sonic!
