Mother's Day is right around the corner. It's May 10th for those of you who don't know. Go mark it on your calendars. I'll wait.....
And husbands, telling your wife, "Why should I do anything? You're not MY mom" does not fly. Your wife may not be your mom, but she's the mother of your children and, unless you want to sleep in the doghouse, show her that you appreciate all she does. Picking up something from the gas station on your way does not count either. If you show up with scratch-off lottery tickets, gum, a newspaper, or an evergreen shaped air freshener she'll know that you stopped off at the gas station. If you value your life, do not attempt this.
It doesn't have to be anything big or expensive. A homemade breakfast in bed is GREAT! Taking the kids out to a movie so Mom can have a little nap is heavenly. Letting Mom go get a pedicure is wonderful! Handmade cards and kiddie handprints (on places other than the walls) is also heartwarming and touching.
Or if you want to do a little more, try one of these ideas...
1. My book, BECAUSE I SAID SO, of course, is the perfect Mother's Day present! Order your copy of Because I Said So at Family Christian stores HERE, or Amazon HERE!
2. A fresh floral arrangement from Teleflora. Teleflora has been connecting customers with the nation's best florists for more than 70 years. All of their floral arrangements are professionally arranged by a local florist using only the freshest flowers available, and each gift is personally delivered in a vase. Check out their gorgeous arrangements especially for Mother's Day. And while you're browsing, make sure you take a look at the Mom’s Shopping Spree Sweepstakes, which kicked off April 20 and runs until May 15. The grand prize is a $20,000 shopping spree; first and second prizes will be shopping gift cards! Now, THAT'S a Mother's Day gift!!!
3. A ring from Whimsy Worldwide. These rings are so unique and fun! They're really strong and durable and showcase the wildly popular collectible Trollbeads, Pandora and Chamilia glass beads. You can change the beads to match your outfit or mood. If you have a Pandora (or similar) bracelet, you already have an array of beads that fit into this ring. You can have fun switching them whenever the mood strikes! If you don't, you'll soon fall in love with collecting these beads and showing them off on your Whimsy ring! Click HERE to find a retailer near you.
4. A mother's or grandmother's bracelet from MyMommysBracelets. Vanessa's got a wide array of gorgeous bracelets from which to choose. She uses high quality components including genuine Swarovski Crystal and pearls, Sterling Silver and gold filled beads, and each bracelet comes beautifully packaged in an organza pouch for easy gift-giving.
Leave me a comment here for a chance to win a signed copy of my book, Because I Said So, a beautiful Mom's Butterfly Bouquet floral arrangement from Teleflora, or a Mommy bracelet personalized with initials and birthstones from MyMommysBracelets. I'll choose 3 random winners on Friday at 5:00pm CT. The first winner will receive the book, the second will receive the flowers and the third will receive the bracelet. Good luck!

ReplyDeleteI already have the book, so if I win that I will give it away to a friend. I love your ideas.
ReplyDeletemy husband bought "something different" this year, which is a scary thought. it could mean anything from crossword books (which i hate) to nerf guns that are more for him and the boys to play with. i think i would much rather have one of the great gifts you suggested. especially the book, then i could read all the funny stuff that happens in your house without having to scroll!
ReplyDeleteI've been wanting on of those Mommy Bracelets for awhile now! I love them, they are gorgeous.

ReplyDeleteC. Webb
I would love to win any of these.
ReplyDeleteMe, me, me, pick me!
ReplyDeleteYeah, the husband saying, "You're not MY mom," is the lamest thing ever. To them I say, The mother of your children is the most important mother in your life now, so grow up, and stop making excuses!
ReplyDelete(Oh yeah, and please randomly pick me!)
I'd be happy if my husband would just take the kids to the dollar store so they could pick something out for me. Luckily, my mother took the kids already. The kids don't know I know, but one got me a shirt, one a pair of shorts, and another picked a pair of sandals.
ReplyDeleteAll of your suggestions are fabulous ones! I never know what to "hint" to my husband for Mother's Day...until now! You're awesome, Dawn. Thanks for keeping all us moms laughing instead of crying through the craziness!
ReplyDeleteOh YAY. Thanks for the giveaway Dawn!
ReplyDeleteI would love to win any of the things you are gifting. I already have your book ( and totally LOVE IT), but if I win the book I will keep the signed copy and give the one I bought to my sister in law...

ReplyDeleteYou're the best! Thanks for the chance to win cool stuff! (I'm hoping for the book...)
ReplyDeleteI'm going to order a copy of your book today as a Mother's Day present for myself. I was disappointed to discover none of the retailers in my town are stocking it and I'm too impatient to wait for their special order service.
ReplyDeleteOf course, if I happen to win a signed copy of your book, the one I order will go to my niece, who is a new mom. She'll love it! :-)
Those rings are gorgeous! I'm definitely going to check them out for myself! :) I'd love to win any of those 3 things, thanks for the great giveaway!! :)

ReplyDeleteI would love to be including in your drawing. All are awesome prizes. Would be nice to have a gift for Mother's Day since hubby says I am not his mom. and daughters and grands give phone calls. LOL
ReplyDeleteI was completely lost as to what to get my moms for Mothers' Day, but these are great suggestions, thank you!

ReplyDeleteThe best mothers day gift I received was when my daughter was 3. She picked out a green fuzzy ink pen with a face and legs that was promptly named "Guy" and then taken away from me. Best gift ever! I'll never forget the 32 seconds I had with "Guy." Thanks for the giveaways Dawn!
ReplyDeleteWould love to win one!
ReplyDeleteI never win anything, but maybe I'll get lucky for Mother's Day!! Pick me!
ReplyDeleteRegardless, Happy Mother's Day Dawn!
Oh pick me, pick me! They all sound great.
ReplyDeleteWe're in Scotland and Grandma is in Atlanta so we have to buy a Mother's day card when it's Mother's Day in Scotland (in March) and try not to lose it before sending it to America in May. :)
ReplyDeleteHope you have a great Mother's Day Dawn! Thanks for the daily laughs.
ReplyDeleteForget the other stuff, I want the book! Ok, really though, you have come up with some really nice ideas for Mother's Day. All the prizes are very nice.

I was listening to our local Christian station a couple days ago and they were giving away a copy of your book. They were doing some sort of mom-trivia thing and whoever got the most "correct answers" won your book! Very cool. I couldn't participate because I was driving my child to the doctor's office, but it was fun listening and hearing them talk about your book.
ReplyDeleteWhat a mother's day treat! ALL THREE!!
ReplyDeleteI promise i'll share if i get picked!! I would send my mom the flowers for sure! although she deserves much more than that!

Great ideas! Although personally, I don't like breakfast in bed. I wouldn't dare tell my son that but it drives me nuts to have to eat my breakfast propped up by pillows. LOL But of course I ooo and ahhh over it every year :)

ReplyDeleteGreat giveaways! I love the bracelet.
ReplyDeleteRkulin5661 at aol dot com
Dawn I would love to win any of these. Love reading your blog.
ReplyDeleteA very happy Mother's Day to you. I hope you receive (edible) breakfast in bed, and are spoiled rotten by all 6 (+1) of your children. My biggest child will not stop at the gas station (he's not quite that foolish), but there will be an awkward conversation on Saturday about how he and the kids will need to "go out for a bit," as if I didn't know what the occasion was. :-)
ReplyDeleteThose are great ideas Dawn! I would love to get any one of those! But I got an MP3 player a few weeks early that I count as my MD gift, lol. I also just ordered your book from Amazon on Saturday so hopefully will be getting it soon!
ReplyDeleteI really enjoy your blog and your ever creative children. I remember telling my creative children 'That wasn't a good plan and the next time you do that it will be naughty.' Fortunately they didn't do the naughty things often, they just thought up more bad plans!
ReplyDeleteI would Love to win a signed copy of your book. I'm still wishing for a Mother's bracelet (my oldest is now 7). Oh well, maybe one day.
ReplyDeleteThank you so much for the chance to win a GREAT prize :)

What wonderful gift ideas!
ReplyDeleteAny one of those gifts would be great! This will be my first "official" Mother's Day as a mom, and I think my husband is panicking...he has NO idea what to get me. The greatest gift I can think of is to let me sleep in! Instead of getting up at 5am on a Sunday, I'd LOVE to sleep until 8...or 10!
ReplyDeleteHappy Mother's Day, Dawn! (early, of course) I read through your book in just a day. I was supposed to save it for my trip--where I had long flights--but I couldn't resist and read it early. Loved it. :)
ReplyDeleteI'd love any of the prizes. Those rings look really awesome...and let's face it, who doesn't love getting or giving flowers?! Well, I suppose aside from those who are allergic to flowers. And I know several moms I could give your book to!
Best wishes!
Jessica
