Trust Me

I got to have lunch today with Monica Potter, star of TNT's new show, Trust Me which premieres Monday, January 26. Before having lunch today, I was able to check out the first 2 episodes of the show. Those of you who have been reading my blog for awhile know that I don't watch much television. When asked what my favorite show is, I say Seinfeld. That's usually met with, "You do realize that's been off the air for 10 yeas, right?" But I watched Trust Me and I liked it! I don't know if I liked it because I'm so used to watching Nickelodeon all day that I was just desperate to see some adult TV or what. I did like the first episode enough that I immediately watched the second episode. After that one, I was hooked.

The show's set in Chicago which is cool, of course. Although there's a part in the second episode where they go to Woodfield Mall, but the mall that's shown on Trust Me is definitely not Woodfield. That bugged me. I don't know why. It's kinda ridiculous, isn't it. Like I've said before - I need therapy. Anyway, it stars Eric McCormack, Tom Cavanagh, and Monica Potter who work at an ad agency in Chicago.

You have to watch the show so you know what I'm talking about when I say, "Do Thumbthing" (which I intend to say a lot from now on.) LOL! Do Thumbthing. Hee hee. Yeah, it doesn't take much to amuse me.

Anyway, here's a little video from my lunch with Monica Potter today. She's very pretty and thin and I just love how real she was at lunch. She's a working mom just trying to keep it all together like most of us. (I don't know what happened to the video. It looked great when I edited it, but once I loaded it to YouTube, it started looking all funky and dark. I'm sorry about the poor quality.)

Me & Stephanie from Adventures in Babywearing. Stephanie is a total sweetheart and (small world) her cousin goes to my church!

Me & Beth Feldman from Role Mommy. Beth is the author of Peeing in Peace (is that a great title or what?!) and she's one of the amazing women I got to hang out with in L. A. this past October. Thanks for inviting me, Beth! It was so great to see you again!

MJ Tam and Jen Khatchatrian from Chicagonista, a website devoted to bringing you Chicago's hidden treasures from eats, plays, shopping, and events to family friendly activities both in the city and suburbs.

Me & Monica Potter. Yes, I know it's blurry. My flash didn't go off, but she was trying to get out the door, so I didn't want to hold her up by asking her to take another picture. Just squint your eyes and/or have a drink and it'll look clear.

And, just because I'm a dork who finds things like "contact lens solution in the bathroom" kinda funny, here's another picture. If you're ever at the Capital Grille in Chicago and you just need to clean your contact lenses immediately, never fear, the bathroom there is stocked with cleaning solution. In fact, while you're at it, grab a Q-Tip and clean out your ears, brush the lint off your shirt, and apply a fresh layer of hairspray. Oh, and just in case, there's a container of tampons too.

Now, what other blogger would be doofy enough to take a picture of this? That's me - always finding stupid things that amuse me and then sharing them with you. Aren't you glad you read this blog? :D

Oh, and I've got 3 TNT goody bags to give away too! Included is a TNT Trust Me tote bag (this is a nice sturdy one with a zipper!), a Trust Me T-shirt, a Trust Me notepad and a cast picture autographed by Monica Potter! Score! Leave me a comment here and I'll pick 3 winners on Monday night.

  3. Looks like you all had a nice time. You look great! That bathroom is stocked up, I have been to one place that had bathrooms with a cool set up like that. my old gym had deoderant and sometimes it was solid - i couldn't bring myself to use it. Ack! That is something you just don't share.

  4. I can't wait to see the show. I have to admit, I think it's a little funny to have contact solution in a public restroom... I'm not sure I could use it if I needed to, but I would LOVE it if more bathrooms had a "just in case" container of tampons. Things always get so crazy when we are out, I can always remember the twins diapers & wipes but always forget to grab a darn tampon! Nothing like the toilet paper or paper towel liner hoping you make it without an accident!

  6. Oh my stars...I want that t-shirt......It is 6:00 AM where I am and I've been up since 9 AM on Friday because...well because I'm a dummy and I came to a conference in Miami and then I fell in the road because I was texting or tweeting one and then I broke my foot and then I missed my flight and then I spent the night laying in the floor of the Ft. Lauderdale Airport with my laptop surfing and hey, look, I'm one of the first to comment.....

a girl goes through all that, she deserves the loot...and that t-shirt is freakin' killer...

  12. I can't believe I'm the first one to comment--I must be the only dork who is up at the crack of dawn and wants to get her computer time in before the whole house goes berserk :) That show sounds really cool--I will have to watch that one. I am sort of a TV junkie so one more won't hurt, right?

  14. Heh, I understand all too well the angst of having no TV time. We live in Germany and refuse to pay out our ears for 5 or 6 channels that show old movies and tv shows. My mother stocked our dvd collection with the entire Backyardigans series and gave us all the Disney movies and DVDs from my childhood. I'm not sure I would know what to do with myself if I watched real TV with adult plots.
(and I'd love to win some loot! :D)

  56. Cool! The Husband and I have wanted to watch that (b/c we like Tom Cavanagh in basically everything we've seen him in) but we missed the premiere. Hopefully we'll be able to catch up! Goodies are always fun!

(I would've taken a picture of the stuff in that bathroom too!)

    ReplyDelete
  61. My husband and I are both from Las Vegas, and it totally bugs us when they misrepresent Vegas stuff in movies! They always have the casinos out of order or in the wrong part of town, like in Con Air when the plane is on the strip and then crashes into the hard rock guitar, even though the hard rock isn't even on the strip.

Monica Potter...the only thing I've seen her in is some movie about models. I'll have to check out her new show.

    ReplyDelete
  62. That is sooo awesome you got to meet her. I wanna meet celebrities!!!

    ReplyDelete
  63. I'm anxiously awaiting the premiere of this show. I thought it looked great too. I love TNT. Wow, what a great time you must have had. Awesome giveaway!

    PS...pick me!!

  75. I was thinking "Jan 26... I'll have to remember that" and then realized that the 26th is THIS Monday. What happened to January?

And ummm whenever I go to dinner at a fun place, I always (as do many of my friends) make a trip to the ladies room to check out what fun and funky things they have there. Now I can skip Capital Grille ;)

And I get really bugged when there are shows and movies "in" Chicago that have people doing things like driving along lower Wacker and then suddenly on 55 or driving on LSD south of the museum campus or whathaveyou. I'm all for accuracy!

    ReplyDelete
  76. It sounds like a great show. I will set it to record right now!

  81. Cool experience! So I've got a SSO question...I'm totally in awe of your straightening up ability. I look at messes like that and pee my pants. I never learned how to clean an oven and I've lived in my house now for 5 years. It looks like a set for a strange inorganic planet in a cheap sci-fi movie. How do you clean your oven?
    Thanks! Becky

  161. I saw the ads for that show and it's the kind of show that makes me wish I had TV again. That bathroom is better stocked than mine is.

  164. I understand the misrepresentation in movies. My husband grew up in Elizabethtown, KY, so when the Elizabethtown movie came out, of course we had to see it. It portrayed Elizabathetown as a little hick town, and it is definitely not.

Then, let us not forget that on his way to Elizabethtown from the Louisville airport, they have him going through tunnels that he deinitely wouldn't have traveled through (wrong interstate), but it was really bad when he went by what we call The Castle, which is impossible without being completely and utterly stupid. I guess they have to use some artistic license, but let's make it work a little.

  172. You look great! Please everyone, watch Life on Mars, back 1/28 Wednesday nights at 10:00PM. Great show, with Harvey Keitel, Michael Imperioli, and the very handsome Jason O'Mara, who was actually on Trust Me last night(he died). My new favorite show! Although my last favorite show was a little more recent than Seinfeld. Hah!
