Why Are There All These Socks?

I do several loads of landry each day because, well, because I've got a family of 8. Recently I've been seeing a lot of little socks in the laundry. A LOT of them. Here's the thing though - my kids haven't worn socks in months. It's summer. They wear Crocs or sandals or go barefoot. I kept wondering, where are all these coming from? Why am I washing a couple dozen kid's socks a week? Then I was enlightened...

You can't slide around on all fours across the kitchen floor unless you have socks on your hands and feet. Duh.

  2. Just tell them to dust the skirting boards as the go! (And anything else that looks dusty too.) I wouldn't mind washing the socks if I didn't have to do the dusting.

  3. Oh my goodness. I'm glad Clay is your kid and not mine. I know you tell of his antics all the time, but he has the cutest little face. How can you get mad at that?!

I know I'll learn. I have an almost 2 year old girl who infuriates or frustrates me to my whit's end every waking hour, but I'm currently in love with my 4 month old little boy who I cannot imagine will ever get into trouble. I guess I'm in nursing-hormone dreamland...you think?

  6. Hey, at least they put the socks in the laundry when they're done, and not hiding them around the house for you to find at inopportune moments! Here's to creativity...

  8. Who says Summer fun only comes from over priced Amusement Park tickets, constant trips to Toys R Us, or (eek!) camping in the sticks? Really, kudos to your kiddies for finding free entertainment with OUT prompting! When they're finished cleaning your floors, I happen to have hardwood throughout the house... LOL.

  10. silly silly me -- I thought maybe your kids were "finding" socks in the furniture and under the beds and dressers and actually -- ACTUALLY -- putting them, in pairs, in the hamper... I really should drink more coffee before I start reading these blogs!

... my children always used my tea towels to "skate" on... you know, cuz they were already in the kitchen and their bedrooms were SO FAR away

  11. Send them to my house and I'll spray a little pledge on their socks and let them buff my wood floors! Wonderful idea!

  14. I think it's pretty smart that they put the socks on upside-down so the gripping part wouldn't impede the fun!

  15. Love it! Maybe they could do a little dusting while they have those socks on their hands. It is never too early to multi-task!!! :)
