HAPPY EASTER!

86922_42516440

“At that time,” declares the LORD, “I will be the God of all the clans of Israel, and they will be my people.”
     This is what the LORD says:
“The people who survive the sword
     will find favor in the desert;
     I will come to give rest to Israel.”
     The LORD appeared to us in the past, saying:
“I have loved you with an everlasting love;
     I have drawn you with loving-kindness.
I will build you up again
     and you will be rebuilt, O Virgin Israel.
Again you will take up your tambourines
     and go out to dance with the joyful.
Again you will plant vineyards
     on the hills of Samaria;
the farmers will plant them
     and enjoy their fruit.
There will be a day when watchmen cry out
     on the hills of Ephraim,
‘Come, let us go up to Zion,
     to the LORD our God.’”
—Jeremiah 31:1-6, NIV

  7. I have read your blog for several months now and have never commented, even though I wanted to many times! You are so funny and refreshing. However, today I was moved that you would use your forum to proclaim the resurrection of our Lord. Thank you for your boldness, and not caring about the negativity that may come your way because of it...it is YOUR blog, after all! Have a great week!

    If you get a chance, hop over to my blog and watch my son Alex sing Amazing Grace. We were so proud, he sang a solo Easter Sunday this year and it was his first ever solo. :)

  22. Wonderful message Dawn and a reminder of what Easter is indeed about. It's not cute bunnies that bring us chocolate or hiding eggs or even new dresses & white shoes, it's about the celebration of the physical resurrection of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

    And I agree with the blogger about your boldness in posting your beliefs. TOO many times we sit & whimper in the corner because we're afraid we'll offend someone. I am working on a blog myself and I don't make any apologies for what's written there. Thank you again for being real for us moms and for proclaiming the good name of our Lord.

  33. It sounds like you had quite an Easter! Mine was hectic enough with just being pregnant and having an almost-two-year-old son, with only my parents coming over to hang out. I cannot imagine doing all that with 6!
    I'm so glad that we've got Jesus to help us calm down inside when the ocean gets rough! Praise God for giving us someone as funny and insightful as you, and as excellent as your family to brighten our day!

  34. Hi Dawn
    Happy Easter to you all too.

    This is one celebration of the year that most beliefs seem to agree on in that it is a special time of year and deserves to be recognised no matter which path you follow.

    Without wishing to start a masive debate about the rights and wrongs, origins and truths I found this definition fairly enlightening too.

    Pagan Origins
    Easter, a Christian festival, embodies many pre-Christian traditions. The origin of its name is unknown. Scholars, however, accepting the derivation proposed by the 8th-century English scholar St. Bede, believe it probably comes from Eastre, the Anglo-Saxon name of a Teutonic goddess of spring and fertility, to whom was dedicated a month corresponding to April. Her festival was celebrated on the day of the vernal equinox; traditions associated with the festival survive in the Easter rabbit, a symbol of fertility, and in colored easter eggs, originally painted with bright colors to represent the sunlight of spring, and used in Easter-egg rolling contests or given as gifts.

    Such festivals, and the stories and legends that explain their origin, were common in ancient religions. A Greek legend tells of the return of Persephone, daughter of Demeter, goddess of the earth, from the underworld to the light of day; her return symbolized to the ancient Greeks the resurrection of life in the spring after the desolation of winter. Many ancient peoples shared similar legends. The Phrygians believed that their omnipotent deity went to sleep at the time of the winter solstice, and they performed ceremonies with music and dancing at the spring equinox to awaken him.

    The Christian festival of Easter probably embodies a number of converging traditions; most scholars emphasize the original relation of Easter to the Jewish festival of Passover, or Pesach, from which is derived Pasch, another name for Easter. The early Christians, many of whom were of Jewish origin, were brought up in the Hebrew tradition and regarded Easter as a new feature of the Passover festival, a commemoration of the advent of the Messiah as foretold by the prophets.

    It seems that everyone agrees it is a special time of year.

  36. Thank you for posting this scripture. I just read it today but it is exactly what I needed for encouragement today. I have an unpleasant thing to attend to today and I am (was) anxious about it. But I know who my Redeemer is, thanks for reminding me.

    Also, good luck with WW. I am doing it also and it really works!
