and the Winner is...

And the moment you've all been waiting for.......

JACKSON

LEXINGTON

CLAYTON

SAVANNAH

AUSTIN

BROOKLYN

Don't feel bad if you got it wrong. Joe got three of them wrong. My sister asked me who the strange kid was in the second picture because she didn't think it was one of mine. I have a hard time telling all of their baby pictures apart unless I look at the background and scrutinize the color of the walls and the clothes the kids are wearing.

A few of you got them all right, but the first one was Denise! Congrats! I'll get the gift card off to you this week! Thank you to everyone for playing!

It was like 60 degrees outside today! Woo Hoo! Yay spring! While Joe was taking a walk with Clay and Brooklyn, Clay picked up some strange looking rocks and said, "Look at these weird rocks, Daddy!" Joe looked at the "rocks" and told Clay, "Umm that's rabbit poop. Let's go wash your hands."
A little later while I was outside with Clay, he looked up in the sky and said, "Look! There's a hammer!"
"A what?"
"A hammer! See it? A hammer!"
"I don't see any hammers, hon. What are you looking at?"
"Right there! See the red hammer. He hammers on trees!"
The light finally dawned as I saw a red bird fly from the tree. "Ohhhh, do you mean a woodpecker?"
"YES! A hammerbird!"
"LOL! That's a cardinal, sweetie and you, my dear, crack me up."
Kids are goofballs, aren't they?

  1. ROFL!!! Kids are so funy when they think of names for things. My son who is autistic comes up with so many and when you think about it the names actually fits the items.
I haven't been to your blog in a while so I have a lot of reading to do.

  6. I love the things kids say! Speaking of hammers...when my son was little he used to call a sledge hammer a "fudge hammer". We still call it that.

    Have a wonderful weekend!

  9. Dawn, I just wanted to tell you how much I like "Mamas Like." Thank you for doing all the research and posting your thoughts. Whenever I need a gift, I don't hesitate to go to your site first. Thank you for such a great site!

  10. I wonder if looking at the baby pictures makes you think about having another. I get that feeling once in awhile but then I recall the 5 months of throwing up and come back to my senses. Jennifer in WI

  11. My son has seen "birdhackers" at our backyard trees.

Your children do look remarkably similar. Can you publish a baby picture for both you and Joe?

  12. Hammerbird... that's cute. Kids probably should name things... sometimes they have better names for things or at least more memorable names. I have been enjoying watching the birds arrive. Spring is in the air! Have a great weekend, Dawn!

  13. Question for you. You have comment moderation enabled... does moderating take a lot of time and do you have to delete very many comments each week?

  14. Ok Dawn... seriously... those are all the same kid right?? What do you guys do clone children??

    Haha :)

  16. Beach trees! When my son was little and we lived in California he kept talking about beech trees. But that wasn't what he meant at all--"No, Mom! Beach trees, like the tree at my school!" Palm trees.

I love hammerbirds. Can't wait to tell my DH.

  17. My baby boy cracks me up too.
If you don't mind (and you can delete it at will) I'll copy a post that I recently put on my blog ( www.navide.blogspot.com):
    Boys will be boys.
I am always amazed at the innate difference between boys and girls.
I've been spoiled by my little girl who's been always proper and obedient. All it always took for her to obey me was to be told once, occasionally twice. When she was two we went to Italy and a friend of mine invited us for supper with some other friends. Everybody was amazed at the fact that my little girl could pretty much quietly sit at the table for - literally - two hours and calmly eat without complaining or even ask me to get down (which, by the way, I would have had no problem allowing her to do).

    Life was good.

Than I had my little boy.
And things changed! Did they ever! The guy is something else! As much as Juniper was all girl, he is all boy. He likes to throw stuff; he can get punished 150 times for the same offense and turn around and do the same thing one more time! He likes to kick the ball, but also, occasionally the dog or the cat for no reason whatsoever (and, yes, he gets punished for that, too). He likes to hammer and play drums on metal lids.
The other day we were at Lowe's. We were walking in the store with him holding my hand and all of a sudden he started yelling: "Mom, mom tome loot, tome loot!!" (come look) and pulled me towards a shelf full of wrenches (or some similar metal tool); he let go of my hand, grabbed one and with the excitement I would have in front of a real italian pizza he exclaimed: "MOM!! LOOT AT THIS!!!"
    He's definitely all boy.

    And life is still good.

Ah! Boys! (and girls for that matter!)

    Thanks for making us smile.

  18. WOW! I got them all right:)

Too bad I wasn't fast enough, huh??It was pretty easy really. They do look a lot alike, but enough like themselves to distinguish who is who. Esp. Lexy!

Clay is at such a fun age. I loved the video of Brooklyn saying she wouldn't go for her nap and you can just barely tell Clay is in the background, playing happily. Brings back memories of my two youngest. They are 16 mo apart and SO CLOSE. Which also means they fight the worst at times! LOL

    MAN! I can't believe I "won", but I didn't "win". LOL

    Haha at hammerbird

Each of my 3 children called the windscreen wipers on the car "windscreamers". Years later we still call them that

  22. Oh my god...
I never guessed, but was going to...

I would have gotten all of them right.

  23. Looking again at your adorable baby pictures with the names next to them, I just noticed something, and a question occurred to me...does Savannah ever feel left out because she is the only one of your children whose name doesn't end in an "N"? (or the "in," "on," or "yn" sound, which are all very similar)? Or does that make her special when you holler all their names out the back door? And before you ask, yes, I do think too much.

  24. Ok I know this isn't the birthday thread but that was a couple of blogs ago.

  25. Oh I am so excited that I got it right..... even if I wasn't the first!

I was very scientific and spent over an hour perusing various photos posted to your blog previously checking kids eyes, facial features (chins/noses) etc. The only one I didn't have to do that for at all was Brooklyn LOL! She still looks the same LOL!

    WOO HOO@@@@

  26. WOW! I don't think I got a single picture right. heehee
I am just THAT good. LOL

  27. Okay, I don't mean to be difficult or anything, but in the entry where you show which child is which, Clayton and Jackson have the same picture. The picture missing is the baby with the onesie with blue . . . rocking horses . . . . maybe!
