You have to train the kids, but if you are on the phone or talking with another adult, and the child NEEDS your attn. they walk up to you and place a hand on your shoulder or elbow and you place your hand over the child's hand to acknowledge them, then when you can have a pause or break in the coversation, you can ask them what they need.
